Overview - The Representative, Credit Authorization, is responsible for reviewing and dispositioning customer credit applications according to Company guidelines and standards. This position is a customer support role and requires effective communication skills to interact with both external and internal customers and store associates via a variety of communication platforms.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Disposition customer credit applications based upon internal credit policies and procedures.

  • Communicate the credit application decision to both clients and retail associates.

  • Accountable for efficiently managing credit application queues, ensuring applications are processed in the order of their submission.

  • Review customer credit applications (Verify accuracy of information; Cross reference information against supporting documentation; Research using third-party credit services and resources).

  • Interact with customers (internal and external) and store representatives using a variety of platforms and methods, including by phone and electronically.

  • Meet performance objectives related to handling of inbound and outbound calls, response time, customer wait times, and customer service ratings.

  • Always maintain a customer-service orientation, both with internal and external customers and store associates.

  • Partner with leadership to address complex credit authorization matters and escalated customer concerns.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • 1+ years’ prior experience in customer service required.

Preferred Experience

  • Prior call center experience preferred.

  • Prior experience reviewing and dispositioning consumer credit applications a plus.

  • Attention to detail, with demonstrated ability to review data, identify discrepancies and research and report findings.

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong communication skills (written and oral) with the ability to interact with individuals at all levels within the organization.

  • Must have strong customer service skills.

  • Ability to multitask and handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel and Word).

  • Ability to work a full-time schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays, with overtime as needed.

  • Exceptional analytical skills, strong ethical behavior, and the ability to work with sensitive financial data.

Working Conditions

  • Work is performed in an office (retail, distribution, call center) environment.

  • May require prolonged periods of sitting/standing.
