Job Description

Position Overview: Insight Global is seeking a highly skilled Supervising Plan Check Engineer/Examiner to join an industry-leading engineering solutions company. This role involves supporting the Building and Safety Division by examining plans and specifications for buildings and structures to ensure compliance with all relevant code requirements. The design elements to be reviewed include architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire/life safety, energy conservation regulations (Title 24), Green Building Standards, Accessibility, and Egress.

Key Responsibilities:

Review plans with other public agencies, itemize required corrections and modifications, and explain them to permit applicants.

Submit status reports to Building Officials.

Answer questions related to plans and permitting at public jurisdictional building counters.

Authorize the issuance of building permits for plans that meet code and ordinance requirements.

Supervise a team of plan examiners and plan check engineers.

Manage the plan check team to ensure engineers are assigned to specific projects and meet deadlines.

Assist with customer-facing meetings to address project-related inquiries.

This position requires a detail-oriented individual with strong leadership skills and a thorough understanding of building codes and regulations. The ideal candidate will be adept at managing complex projects and ensuring compliance with all relevant standards

Skills and Requirements

Minimum of 10 years of experience in Building Plan Checking/Examining in California, covering both residential and commercial structures.

Possession of a California PE License or Architect License.

Comprehensive knowledge of building codes and regulations.

Proficiency in reviewing various design elements, including architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire/life safety, energy conservation regulations (Title 24), Green Building Standards, Accessibility, and Egress.

Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field. Previous supervisory or managerial experience.

Experience with Bluebeam software. null
