We are seeking a highly motivated PhD Scientist with robust background in skin microbiome/microbiology research to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a key role in advancing our understanding of the microbiome and developing innovative solutions to address challenges in human health and beauty, and sustainable living.

Your key responsibilities

  • Lead research projects focused on understanding the microbiome’s functional roles in human health and beauty to enable and deliver innovative solutions to our businesses.

  • Identify and develop cutting edge capabilities and leverage them to design and execute in-vitro studies to build knowledge, gain new mechanistic understanding, develop innovative solutions, and/or enable novel claims.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate microbiome data with other omics and clinical data; develop and optimize assays for microbiome analysis, including bacteria culture, cell culture, flow cytometry, and advanced data analysis.

  • Stay abreast of the latest developments in microbiome research and contribute to scientific publications and presentations.

  • Provide technical guidance and support to team members.

  • Help with general lab maintenance as needed; maintain lab stock, manage chemical inventory and safety records, instrument maintenance.

    You bring

  • Ph.D. in Microbiology/Microbial Ecology or in a closely related life science field.

  • A robust scientific understanding of microbiomes & their interactions with hosts.

  • Human microbiome (preferred skin) lab experience is required; proven track record of designing and executing complex experiments in microbiology. Experience in culture-based microbial assay development as well as molecular biology approaches (i.e. PCR, DNA/RNA extraction, sequencing). Experience in microbial strain and sample library building.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop scientific hypotheses and design and execute proof of concept studies.

  • Experience analyzing multi-omics data (metagenomic, meta-transcriptomic, metabolomic). Experience with R, Python, and cloud-based platforms is a plus.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
