General Description

Foreign Exchange Department is responsible for buying and selling for almost all major foreign currency to internal and external customer. Advice customers on which foreign products are most convenient and providing optimum customer service and satisfaction. Support branches with the foreign exchange transactions, quotes for wires transfers to commercial and noncommercial customers. Provide quotes Non-Due from Bank wire transfer for transactions for which Banco Popular doesn't have an account. Provide quotes Due from Bank transactions for which Banco Popular has an account. They are channeled through corresponding banks. Comply to department guidelines, policies, procedures and regulatory requirements governing and OFAC verification.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Attentively listen to the customer to address any questions or problems the client may have.

  • Offer information to customers in order to identify which product best fulfills customers’ needs.

  • Proactively prevent and resolve any customer problems or issues. • Utilize sales and customer service skills.

  • Effectively execute foreign exchange transactions and/or services in accordance to bank policies and procedures and in adherence to legal and regulatory requirements.

  • Maintain the currency amount of cash in teller’s area and ensure cash is secured to be in compliance with security/safety measures.

  • Maintain a reasonable inventory amount of the different currencies.

  • Prepare trade tickets quotes for credit transactions. Investigates, with the sending bank, transactions not identified and follow up investigations until transaction is completed.

  • Sell excess currencies to the bank agents. Performs spot purchases to cover wire transfers and money positions between our bank foreign accounts.

  • Support in Non-Due from Bank wire transfers and operational processes.

Education

Bachelor's degree completed from an accredited university or college. Preferably in Business Administration.

Experience

Two to three years related experience.

  • Oral Communication: (Spanish and/or English) Speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations

  • Demonstrate group presentation skills.

  • Write clearly and informatively; edit work for spelling and grammar.

  • Present numerical data effectively.

  • Ability to positively interact with customers in difficult and demanding situations.

  • Ability to learn bank products/services and procedures/policies and basic office equipment (inclusive of computer operations relevant to performing tasks).

  • Perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
