Nvidia Principal Cyber Security Engineer - Linux in Santa Clara, California

Use your expertise in securing large-scale and diverse Linux environments to work across engineering, IT, and security teams to mentor, influence, and drive adoption of security-first principles while maintaining operational efficiency and performance. You will be a technical leader and strategic doer, with a focus on Zero Trust, identity security, and network security. You will be instrumental in shaping security best practices, guiding architecture decisions, and ensuring our systems are protected against evolving threats.

What you'll be doing:

  • Lead cybersecurity initiatives with a focus on Linux security, ensuring alignment with business and security objectives.

  • Define and implement standard methodologies for improving security on Linux systems, collaborating with engineering teams to boost security while maintaining performance.

  • Champion Zero Trust security, identity security, and Network security, developing strategies to protect critical enterprise assets.

  • Drive secure architecture and security controls across Linux, Windows, and hybrid cloud environments.

  • Partner with security architects, site reliability engineers (SREs), and IT teams to integrate security into development and operations workflows.

  • Influence and mentor technical teams, encouraging a security-first culture within the Linux engineering community.

  • Provide strategic mentorship to executive leadership, translating sophisticated security risks into actionable recommendations.

  • Lead incident response efforts, collaborating with security operations teams to detect, investigate, and mitigate threats.

What we need to see:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field or equivalent experience

  • 15+ years of experience in cybersecurity, Linux security, and enterprise security architecture.

  • Deep expertise in Linux security, including securing large-scale Linux deployments, kernel security, and system hardening.

  • Strong knowledge of Zero Trust, Active Directory security, identity management, network security, and privileged access management (PAM).

  • Technical expertise in network security, firewalls, VPNs, and hybrid cloud security.

  • Proven ability to influence and collaborate across teams, including Linux engineers, developers, IT, and security professionals.

  • Strong leadership, mentoring, and communication skills, with experience driving security initiatives in a large organization.

  • Ability to engage with executive leadership, translating complex security risks into strategic business decisions.

The base salary range is 232,000 USD - 368,000 USD. Your base salary will be determined based on your location, experience, and the pay of employees in similar positions.
