We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join the Kite Development’s Business Operations Team as Associate Director, Clinical Trial Costing and Analysis Lead .
You will be accountable for leading the budgeting and forecasting process for a defined part of the Cell Therapy clinical portfolio. The role will oversee the analysis of financial drivers of clinical cost and make recommendations to ensure cost efficiency. You will play a critical role in managing the accuracy of clinical trial forecasts on an ongoing basis and a key partner with Finance to facilitate the bi-annual clinical trial latest estimate process. You will play a critical role in establishing extensive behaviors, processes, and tools to transform how we implement and monitor the costing of clinical trials and optimize financial oversight. You will lead the development and maintenance of materials and training for multiple stakeholder groups. This role reports to the Kite Development Business Operations Director.
Responsibilities
Lead the forecasting process and the financial oversight of Cell Therapy assets
Collaborate with study teams to accurately forecast clinical spend, validate vendor, and site activities for accrual purposes
Thorough understanding of clinical cost drivers and ability to forecast clinical spend over study life cycle required. Ability to model scenarios and provide guidance to teams regarding material cost drivers and potential design inefficiencies.
Supports detailed study estimate process capturing external Clinical Trial Costs to include CRO, Site Sites, Central & Specialty Labs, Imaging, comparator drug, etc.
Co-lead the oversight off various financial aspects of external clinical trial spend such as the management of accruals, purchase order/invoice, latest estimate processes, development of site budget and study budget scenarios to support governance & planning
Supports long range planning, scenario analysis, and provides inputs to support the annual planning review cycle
Lead conversations with study team and Clinical Development Leadership to discuss current cost drivers and optimize study performance financials
Provide ad-hoc analysis and project support for budget governance
Demonstrates understanding of Accounting and Finance practices pertinent to Clinical Development
May oversee the work of contractors and serve as a line manager
Basic Qualifications
Doctorate and 2+ years of experience in development/study budgeting, forecasting or financial analysis – OR
Master’s Degree and 8+ years of experience in development/study budgeting, forecasting or financial analysis – OR
Bachelor’s Degree and 10+ years of in development/study budgeting, forecasting or financial analysis – OR
High School Diploma/GED and 14+ years of in development/study budgeting, forecasting or financial analysis
Minimum of 3+ years of working in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry, specifically clinical development
Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills, with a demonstrated ability to transform complex data into actionable insights
Ability to collaborate effectively in a dynamic, cross-functional matrix environment
Effective communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
Strong understanding in project management principles and technical applications such as Excel, SharePoint, PowerPoint, SAP, SAP Analytics Cloud
3+ years of working in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry, specifically clinical development
Thorough understanding of Drug Development and the implementation of clinical trials
Experience with clinical trials budgeting and costing tools; required
Experience guiding andfacilitating cross-functional team discussions
Hands-on experience with change management, including guiding structured and significant change efforts within teams and departments, serving as a change agent and history of motivating others to deliver and effect change while maintaining a positive, transparent, and collaborative team environment
Significant experience and skill in strategic communications acrossthe organization
Demonstrated ability in framing and solving complex problems and the critical thinking ability to interpret and communicate them effectively
Ability to synthesize costing analysis and summarize recommendations for senior leaders
Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
Ability to operate and produce at a high level within timelines and scope
Demonstrates comfort with ambiguity and changing business priorities
High emotional intelligence, with demonstrated ability to engage stakeholders effectively, facilitate discussions, and successfully negotiate through challenging situations and difficult conversations
A team player who can align and own shared goals while being flexible and skillful to achieve desired results
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills along with the ability to work collaboratively in a matrixed environment
The salary range for this position is: $165,495.00 - $214,170.00. Kite considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
