Sarasota County Government Grants Analyst - Resilient SRQ in Sarasota, Florida

Sarasota County Government is seeking a Grants Analyst to assist with the Community Development Block Grant – Disaster Recovery, (CDBG-DR), a federally funded program assisting the unmet needs of the County following Hurricane Ian. CDBG-DR can assist with housing, infrastructure, economic development, and mitigation in low to moderate income areas. This position is funded by the CDBG-DR grant, which will last approximately five to six years. This is a unique opportunity for an inquisitive, self-motivated, and detail oriented individual to make a positive impact on the citizens of Sarasota County.

Program Support

  • Support CDBG-DR fiscal operations. Compile and analyze project, grant, and financial data. Develop, monitor, and review financial calculations and reports. Prepare forecasts, projections, trends, revenue, and cost analyses. Perform month-end reconciliations. Assist in establishing financial controls and systems for the CDBG-DR projects and programs.

  • Review financial reporting functions for CDBG-DR grant accounts. Monitor anomalies with expenses or revenues. Analyze data and make recommendations for solutions, then execute solutions. Maintain data files to be used for future.

  • Participate in the development of process and procedures to implement accounting procedures and track changes to the grant. Receive project updates and address project implementation activities and issues.

  • Research, analyze, and implement federal, state, local rules, and regulations. Review policies and procedures for CDBG-DR projects and programs to ensure compliance with federal regulations.

Grant Reporting

  • Maintain and regularly update the County’s Action Plan, both the Public Action Plan, and the version submitted to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD in their DRGR grant reporting system. Assists and tracks with amendments to the Action Plan in DRGR and in the Public Action Plan.

  • Prepare quarterly reports for review by the Program Manager in DRGR for submittal to HUD.

  • Maintain a strong knowledge of the federal requirements for the Community Development Block Grant – Disaster Recovery eligibility criteria through research and training.

    Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

    About You

    Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Business, Finance, Economics, Statistics, or other related field AND minimum of 3 - 4 years of progressively responsible professional experience.

  • Master’s degree in related field may be substituted for one year of the required experience.

  • Related professional experience or certifications may substitute for the required education.

Starting Pay Range: $55,577.60 - $62,000.00, based on your experience
