Empire State University is currently seeking a full-time Financial Aid Advisor (State Title: Financial Aid Advisor) to join our team at our Saratoga Springs, NY location.

The Financial Aid Advisor will administer, evaluate, process, verify, award and deny federal, state and institutional financial aid. The advisor will determine financial aid applicants' need as prescribed under congressional need analysis and federal regulations for the purpose of awarding student loans and campus-based funds. They will counsel and confer with students with regard to student expense budgets and personal and family situations that may be related to financial need determination and financial aid opportunities in person or via the telephone or written correspondence.

Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution.

  • Proficiency in computer applications and the aptitude to quickly learn new technology.

  • Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks; demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Initiative and creativity and the ability to function well in an environment that promotes both teamwork and independence.

  • Strong, well-developed organizational, written, and oral communication skills.

  • Excellent customer services skills and the ability to work effectively with students, the public, the university community, and external constituencies with a sensitivity to the needs of and an appreciation for cultural and group differences.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Banner (or other higher education) student system.

  • A minimum of 3 years financial aid experience.

  • The ability to apply complex regulations to a variety of situations.

Special Information:

  • This position will be located in Saratoga Springs.

  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule during peak periods.

  • Occasional travel and staffing of events during evenings and on weekends.

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
