GE Vernova Wind Projects and Commercial Controller in Schenectady, New York

Job Description Summary

This position is part of the GE Vernova Wind Controllership Leadership team reporting directly to the Executive Global Business Controller primarily focused on Commercial Accounting across the globe. This individual will be responsible for driving technical accounting compliance, financial and operational internal controls, process simplification, and operational excellence to deliver accurate financial reporting and analysis over commercial activities. They will ensure global compliance with local statutory regulations, U.S. GAAP, controls and procedures, and oversight over key service providers such as Genpact. This senior level individual will have an in depth understanding of the business or function and how their role integrates with others within their discipline leading a team of approximately 12 individuals.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

  • Lead cross functionally in partnership with the Onshore Equipment CFO, Offshore Wind OTR Finance Leader, commercial finance organization, commercial organization, quality organization, and delivery teams.

  • Support on the understanding the balance composition of the balance sheet relevant accounts, assist the extended team, internal and external auditors, with the understanding and explanation of the balances and ensure the related and associated process have proper controls in place.

  • Lead and execute controls definition and quarterly quality reviews for the following accounts and underlying processes: Revenue recognition, Liquidated damages, Accounts Receivable and all subset accounts including Past dues and Bad debt reserve, Progress collections and Deferred income, Sundry receivables/liabilities balances, Contract Assets, and annual CMR processes.

  • Maintain the currency and relevance of policies and accounting standard operating procedures in alignment with the evolving business landscape and dynamics

  • Harmonize processes globally for the aforementioned accounts to drive efficiency.

  • Design internal reviews and lead consolidation process to report balance sheet movements during Finance reviews with controllership teams (FRP) enhancing the visibility of the same.

  • Identify and drive automation and simplification to support monthly close and financial reporting both on pacing as well as actuals and related dashboards to report in the most accurate and less manual way eliminating waste and non-value add work for finance teams. Support identification on areas that can be advanced or done in less frequency to reduce burden during monthly or quarterly close.

  • Actively participate and lead post-mortems for monthly and quarter close lessons learned within business finance / operations team as well as with hub and Genpact providing feedback and following up on action plans. Identify areas for continuous improvement and engage lean team where applicable.

  • Assist in complex and technical issues advise and resolution engaging and communicating with multiple stakeholders as applicable and identify risks during pacing reviews that might represent exposures for the quarter.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from a nationally accredited university or college

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in financial positions, with a high controllership, process, and operational partnership-oriented mindset

  • Certified Public Accountant

The salary range for this position is 147,400.00 - 245,600.00 USD Annual. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. In addition, this position is eligible for a performance bonus. Available benefits include Health, Medical, 401K, Paid Leave.
