DESCRIPTION OF WORK In this position, you will organize and carry out audits at inspection stations in a designated area. Your tasks will include performing audits and offering recommendations to ensure adherence to regulations and safety standards. You will also play a crucial role in identifying and reporting fraudulent activities, providing essential technical and administrative information during audits to maintain program integrity. Your responsibilities will involve both visible and hidden investigative audits, working with law enforcement, and conducting detailed safety re-inspections on vehicles to verify their roadworthiness. Additionally, you will address complaints from law enforcement and customers about vehicle inspections. You will need to attend training sessions to assess the effectiveness of certified instructors, confirm compliance with the approved training curriculum, ensure contract adherence, safeguard exam materials, conduct instructor evaluations as necessary, and create a supportive learning environment for both theoretical and practical training.
You will participate in departmental hearings and court proceedings to testify about violations of the Pennsylvania Vehicle Code, associated regulations, and departmental procedures. Furthermore, you will cultivate and sustain productive relationships with inspection stations, vehicle safety inspectors, law enforcement agencies, educational institutions, industry stakeholders, other state departments, legislative offices, and both public and private entities impacted by the vehicle safety inspection process. You will also recommend training initiatives for vehicle safety inspectors to enhance their skills. This role involves delivering training and conducting presentations at accredited safety inspection schools, civic organizations, industry partners, and other interested parties to disseminate information regarding relevant rules, regulations, and statutes, thereby fostering improved communication and understanding between the Department, inspection stations, and the public.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment, 75 hours bi-weekly Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. This position will require travel, flex time and overtime Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Two years of experience in an automotive repair related field such as: service writer/advisor; technical manual writer; automotive tool and equipment salesman/serviceman; auto mechanic; or auto shop foreman and a high school diploma; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training. Special Requirement:
This position requires possession of a Pennsylvania Safety Mechanics Certification within 90 days of the date of employment. Additional Requirement:
This position is assigned to Schuylkill County. The selected candidate must live in one of the assigned counties of responsibility or must be willing to relocate to Carbon, Columbia, Montour, Northumberland, Dauphin, Lebano , Berks, Lehigh, or Luzerne. You must be able to perform essential job functions.
