Northeast PA Area Health Education Center Community Navigator Scranton, Pennsylvania
Northeast Pennsylvania Area Health Education Center (NEPA AHEC) is the Operating Site for the National Health Corps (NHC) Community Health Fellowship (CHF) Program under the umbrella of AmeriCorps. The NHC CHF is a grass roots community health service program that trains local residents in Greater Philadelphia, Northeast Pennsylvania, Delaware and Centra California as community health workers, digital navigators, and/or medical interpreters who are committed to addressing the unmet health needs of underserved populations and developing grass roots community health leaders.
NHC CHF members participate in the PA AHEC state approved Community Health Worker training and complete 1700 hours of service during a 46-week service term with one of our host sites. Members receive a $15/hour living allowance during, medical, dental and vision coverage if needed, assistance with childcare if eligible, and a $7395 Educational Award at the completion of the service year that can be paid to existing student loans or used for future educational opportunities.

Responsibilities
The NHC CHF member in the Community Navigator position with the Scranton Area Community Foundation will support the NEPA Thrives initiative to develop an asset map application to address barriers to workforce development.
Working under the Community Impact Manager responsible for the NEPA Thrives Initiative and the Director of Community Impact, the NHC member would be responsible for uploading data obtained from information as well as researching services or resources that aren't currently available in existing databases. Based on the input of the NEPA Thrives asset mapping subcommittee, this position would also research and identify platforms or design firms to develop the application and make recommendations on the capacity needed to launch the tool in an intentional and sustainable manner.
