We're looking for an experienced aviation maintenance professional who combines superb technical and analytical capabilities with a demonstrated ability to get the right things done quickly and effectively. As Prime Air's Director of Maintenance, you understand the functionality, business drivers, regulations, and technologies behind the continued airworthiness/operational maintenance program. You define standards of excellence and drive your team(s) to adopt best practices. You establish and regularly review safety, business, performance, and operational metrics. You prioritize efforts that improve overall safety, maintainability, and efficiency. You demonstrate frugality by prioritizing the right initiatives to achieve the greatest impact with the least amount of resources. You influence the team(s) to proactively identify gaps and opportunities (e.g., services, workflows, tooling) within or between regions, architectures, and organizations. You make sure risks are mitigated. You are responsible for the maintenance program to external partners and regulators.

Key job responsibilities

• You represent Prime Air to regulatory authorities in development and implementation of continued airworthiness programs in conjunction with our UAS program.

• You work across the company to lead the design, implement, and harmonize operational maintenance programs.

• You are able to create new programs from scratch, weighing complex inputs that include safety, technical, legal, regulatory, and cost considerations.

• You ensure the effective operation of the maintenance program to ensure safety across multiple locations.

• You implement new mechanisms to accelerate process improvements that result in step-changes in safety, scale, and efficiency.

Basic Qualifications

• Must possess background and experience that meets eligibility requirements for Part 135 Director of Maintenance in accordance with FAA regulations (14 CFR § 119.69)

• Must be thoroughly familiar with maintenance regulatory guidelines as defined in 14 CFR Part 43

• FAA Airframe & Powerplant License

• 8+ years managing maintenance operations

• Proficient in common business applications and tools (e.g. Microsoft Office, SQL)

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiar with hardware and software configuration management techniques

• Experience with foreign maintenance airworthiness guidelines (e.g. EASA continued airworthiness annex)

• Demonstrated understanding of project management methodologies

• Experience with advanced business applications and software development tools (e.g. Enovia, Python, R)

• Exceptional attention to detail and exemplary organizational skills

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $276,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
