Amazon Finance Manager, AWS Network Software in Seattle, Washington

AWS seeks a Finance Manager (FM) to join the AWS Data Transfer team. Data Transfer (DT) is at the core of every AWS service that moves data/bytes within an AWS region, between regions, and to/from the internet. This role will provide day-to-day support on three new services under the newly-formed Network Software organization under the Data Transfer umbrella: recently-launched CloudWatch Internet Monitor and two new services in development. This role will be responsible for building out the finance function for these services, including: pricing, 5-year P&L, cost management, and post-launch KPI management. This Finance Manager will partner with the engineering and product teams to build out new processes, lower costs, and grow these businesses.

In addition, this role will help the DT team drive the right decisions on key business activities like pricing strategies for DT products for external/internal customers, free cash flow initiatives, custom deals in key verticals (e.g., Gaming and AdTech).

This role will emphasize business partnership and as a result, the right candidate will possess a history of driving cross-functional collaboration and working independently in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate comes from a strong financial modeling background, has a passion for improving existing processes, and will participate in developing best-in-class finance practice across the entire AWS organization. The candidate should also possess strong verbal and written communication skills, keen attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects effectively.

Key job responsibilities

  • Support short and long-term financial planning;

  • Drive cost optimization opportunities for newly launched services;

  • Provide strategic support to key business initiatives and investment;

  • Maintain the highest standards for financial models and reporting.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 5+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience

  • Experience in solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits)

  • Experience in Excel (macros, index, conditional list, arrays, pivots, lookups)

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA, or CPA

  • Knowledge of SQL/ETL

  • Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)

  • Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $85,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $179,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
