We are looking for an experienced Software Development Engineer III to join our Platform Services team. This team is responsible for business-critical system services crucial to Blue Origin's mission. As a software development engineer in Enterprise Software, you will contribute your expertise to areas like aerospace applications of engineering design, manufacturing, supply chain management, mission operations, or customer experience. As a member of our Enterprise Technology (ET) team, you will help construct the digital infrastructure vital to building the road to space, concentrating on digital capabilities crucial to Blue Origin's mission. Enterprise Technology is the center of excellence for digital innovation, aligning technology with business strategies. We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Passion for our mission and vision is required! Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Design and develop software systems and infrastructure using languages like Java, Python, AWS components, and Spring. Collaborate with Senior and Principal engineers to design and deliver our ambitious roadmap. Develop optimal technical architectures and present your designs to other SDEs and managers. Implement complex designs using backend and frontend programming languages such as Java, Python, JavaScript, and React. Talk to frameworks such as React to build web user interfaces. Integrate with AWS products such as DynamoDB, RDS, SQS, SNS, among others. Extend commercial products using GraphQL, REST web services, and message queues. Resolve software issues across different levels, including installation, deployment, configuration, and client-server issues. Uphold operational excellence, delivering high-quality technical solutions. Qualifications: Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in software development and production deployment. Familiarity with AWS, Git, Docker, and Kubernetes is beneficial. Proficiency in at least one statically typed language (e.g., Java or C) and one dynamically typed language (e.g., Python or JavaScript). Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals like algorithms, data structures, and object-oriented design. Proven success in delivering software projects from inception to launch. Ability to develop efficient working code, even with incomplete or ambiguous requirements. Strong communication skills; open to others' opinions, contribute creative solutions, and willing to own and rectify mistakes. Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion Basic knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and automated testing for production deployments.
