ASRC Federal Holding Company Electrician High Voltage in Shemya, Alaska

ASRC Federal Communications is seeking a Electrician High Voltage for our ISS2 contract supporting our Air Force customer. This position is located on Eareckson Air Station

Summary/General Description of Job: The Electrician performs duties necessary to maintain in good repair all high voltage electrical and peripheral low voltage systems and equipment. Perform general maintenance and repair of facility electrical systems and equipment requiring practical skill and knowledge at a Journeyman/Lineman levels. The incumbent installs, maintains, and repairs equipment for the generation, distribution, or utilization of electric energy.

Essential Duties & Job Functions:

• Installs or repairs any of a variety of electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, switchboards, pedestals, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, and other transmission equipment.

• Locates and diagnoses trouble in electrical systems or equipment.

• Work involves planning and layout of work from blueprints, drawings, models, or verbal instructions.

• Take and record cathodic protection reading, and up channel for proper analysis

• Repairs Airfield Lighting systems, Secondary Electrical Distribution systems, and associated equipment.

• Installs and climb poles and towers, and perform evaluation of in-service relays to detect failure of transmission, distribution lines, and equipment.

• Operates switches to isolate defective components and remove for repair. Installs and repairs overhead and underground power lines. Installs, disconnects, removes, and repairs electrical power meters.

• Inspects work to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, policies, and regulations.

• Responds to call-outs after normal working hours, as needed.

• Assists other trades and crafts personnel in their daily operations, as directed.

• Follows established safety procedures and utilizes safety protective equipment and clothing pertaining to particular trades or skills.

• Ensures proper housekeeping of jobsite, mechanical rooms, and shops.

• Performs related work as assigned.

Accountable For:

• Common safety practices and protective equipment used on a construction site.

• Procedures for the safe operation and maintenance of electrical circuits, both overhead and underground.

• Solid-state and conventional control circuitry,

• The use of hand and power tools commonly used in the construction trade.

• Understanding and following directions.

• Reading and working from blueprints and engineering drawings.

• Working on or from elevated platforms.

Requirements :

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Minimum of five (5) years’ experience as a journeyman Electrician.

• Current Alaska Certificate of Fitness Card at a Journeyman Electrician Level

• Current CPR certification or the ability to obtain.

• Valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

• Obtain an interim security clearance and obtain a secret clearance.

• Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment physical and drug test.

Preferred

• Experience working with EASYGEN software & CAT Electronic Technician Software

• (2) years’ experience working with Programmable Logic Controls (PLC) and SCADA Systems.

• Experience working in a remote

Work Conditions:

The employee is regularly required to talk and hear to understand instructions, provide information and respond to safety warnings. Work conditions require the employee to stand; climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; taste or smell; and work on scaffolding and ladders. The employee may frequently lift and/or move objects weighing up to 35 pounds without assistance and lift and/or move heavier objects with assistance
