Job Summary

Director, Corporate Strategy – C&V leads multiple critical business and functional roles within the Corporate Strategy department to develop and execute North America Cardiac & Vascular (C&V) wide strategic business plans required to improve commercial and functional operational effectiveness and efficiency. Will partner with commercial leaders to build “Best in Class” Sales and Commercial Excellence Initiatives include but not limited to increase efficiencies in Field Inventory Management operations, improve internal/external customer satisfaction through Terumo Sales Support and Customer Service, provide effective market intelligence for businesses to make educated decisions. Director, Corporate Strategy – C&V will assess operational and commercial business needs of all C&V businesses and build solutions that facilitate developing, measuring and executing strategic plans. These solutions include business analytics, customer relationship management, contract management tools and other services to enhance the capabilities.

Director, Corporate Strategy – C&V will also drive Corporate Accounts financial assessment and support the team’s execution. This position will work cross-functionally and collaboratively across Corporate Accounts, Finance, Contract group, and all Terumo Businesses to build business case to include but not limited to pricing strategy and gross margin analysis. The position will require building tools that measure Corporate Account contracts such as profit margin by BU and blended, forecasting, pricing models, conversion metrics, and GAP analysis.

Director, Corporate Strategy – C&V requires strong business and finance acumen as well as inter-personal skill to drive initiatives. A background in Upstream and Downstream Marketing, Commercial Operations, Corporate Accounts, Finance, Contracting, Sales and Business Development will support success in this position.

Job Details/Responsibilities

  • With a deep understanding of state of business, create and drive initiatives to develop strong foundations to foster collaborations and integration of businesses and functions through identifying opportunities and challenges in North America C&V commercial and functional operations.

  • Execute strategic business plans by collaborating with functions and businesses; stakeholder management, great financial acumen and interpersonal skills are critical and required to drive initiatives

  • Build “Best in Class” shared services partnering with all departments who provide shared services to Businesses. Merge profound understanding and appreciation to unique business requirement and criticality to standardize the procedure at the most efficient ways

  • Drive initiatives under Operational Excellence Working Group: Master Data Governance, Field Inventory Management, CRM, Coding/Reimbursement, Pricing System, and Data Services

  • Develop and update competitive databases aimed at gaining understanding of market potential, competitors, sales channels and sales/pricing strategies to ensure successful growth

  • Lead financial assessment for Corporate Accounts including pricing strategy and gross margin analysis

  • Support Corporate Accounts team to present analysis and proposals to C&V business leaders

  • Establish performance dashboards for key accounts that measure performance and profit metrics for each BU

  • Perform data mining and modeling that will assess One Terumo contracts to meet and exceed profit expectations for each BU.

  • Coordinate and manage communication across the participating Terumo business units

  • Responsible for management of various expenses / budget related to departmental needs such as 3rd party vendor relationships, meetings and infrastructure expansion

  • Demonstrate a commitment to patient safety and product quality by maintaining compliance with all TMC Quality Systems requirements. This includes but is not limited to the prompt recognition and forwarding of customer complaints (i.e. adverse events, product performance reports, etc.) to Quality Assurance (QA), and by ensuring all promotional messaging (i.e. branding strategies, product claims, etc.) and materials (i.e. literature) discussed or presented to customers are clinically accurate and adhere to AdvaMed guidelines and Terumo’s policy on Interactions with Healthcare Professionals. Maintain strong knowledge of and adherence to regulations regarding promotional material content and control. Fully adhere to all applicable FDA regulations, international guidelines and Terumo’s policies at all times. Establish and promote a work environment amongst co-workers and direct reports that supports compliance with the TMC Quality System and Terumo’s policies.

  • Perform other job-related duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA)

  • Deep understanding of state of business, industry standards and operating model are critical to develop strategic business plans with meaningful impacts

  • Ability to work in a highly matrixed environment to facilitate cross-company and functional support to effectively perform all required duties

  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships, and to lead and influence without authority

  • Ability to understand contract terms and their implications for all parties

  • Ability to apply knowledge of business in the marketplace to advance C&V Goals the Cardiac and Vascular Companies

  • Strong financial acumen to business cases and financial assessment

  • Strong commercial operations acumen

  • Strong operational skills necessary to build sustainable yet scalable SOPs

  • A high degree of initiative and interpersonal skill is required

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications

Qualifications/ Background Experiences

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, marketing, business management or related field required and a minimum of 15 years Medical Device experience, Cardiac and Vascular preferred, to include 5 years of successful corporate accounts, finance, marketing, commercial operations or sales management experience

  • Advanced Degree strongly preferred in the areas of finance, business development or healthcare informatics

  • Proven track record regarding contract development and negotiations in the health care national account arena. Must have medical device industry experience.

  • Strong background in operations and integrations projects
