Area Agency On Aging 1-b PLANNING AND GRANTS SPECIALIST in Southfield, Michigan
The Planning and Grants Specialist is responsible for facilitating planning activities and the implementation of grant programs. Supports the agency's identification of unmet needs and planning efforts through collaboration with community partners. Responsible for prospecting new grant opportunities for the agency and cultivating and maintaining funder relationships. Responsible for supporting the development of the Bureau of Aging, Community Living, and Supports (ACLS) required Multi and Annual Implementation Plan.
Duties Include:
Engage in planning activities and community collaboration in targeted geographical areas to identify needs among the older adult population resulting in program and policy development, systems change, public education, and the formation of partnerships to enhance the quality and availability of services for older persons, caregivers, and adults with a disability.
Facilitate secured grants and contracts to ensure programmatic and financial success. Develop and submit program and financial reports as required. Track subcontractor performance, invoices, budgets, and programmatic and financial reports as required by funders. Publish timetables and deadlines.
Support the grant seeking process, to include prospecting for new opportunities, cultivating and maintaining funder relationships, developing and submitting proposals, and tracking submitted proposals. Collaborate with program staff and Agency leadership to identify funding needs and opportunities, as well as collecting information for grant proposal development.
Support the development of the ACLS Multi and Annual Implementation Plan by managing the completion of the plan which includes distributing and collecting required sections from staff, attending provided instructional meetings, incorporating all required sections into a final completed plan, and presenting the plan to Michigan’s Commission on Services to the Aging.
Represent the agency by acting as a spokesperson and or representative on community collaborative/partnerships to increase community awareness of Agency services, opportunities for agency collaboration with external groups and share advocacy information and position on key issues impacting seniors and family caregivers.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Gerontology, Public Policy, Public Health, Social Work or other closely related field with a minimum of 1-2 years of related work experience required. Masters Degree preferred.
Excellent written and oral communication, presentation, data analysis, and computer skills are essential.
Broad knowledge of human services issues as they impact the older adult population is necessary.
Demonstrated enthusiastic commitment to programs providing services to older adults and adults with disabilities desired.
Working knowledge of of advocacy and lobbying techniques and public policy development processes preferred.
Strong administrative and organizational skills; accuracy and attention to detail; must be competent in Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint; 40wpm typing required.
Must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel Region 1-B six-county area as part of requirements of position.
