Overview

Kimley-Horn's Spokane office is seeking a Transporation Planner with 8+ years of experience to join their Transportation and Traffic team! This is not a remote position.

Responsibilities

Join our Multi-Modal Transportation and Traffic Team and play a key role in shaping sustainable, efficient, and equitable transportation solutions. We are seeking a dynamic professional with expertise in urban planning, transportation analysis, and project management to lead and contribute to a variety of transportation-related initiatives, including:

  • Traffic Impact Studies & Multi-Modal Transportation Analyses – Assess and design solutions that enhance mobility and accessibility.

  • Safety Studies & Travel Demand Modeling – Utilize data-driven approaches to improve transportation safety and efficiency.

  • Corridor Concept Development & Sustainable Mobility Planning – Develop forward-thinking strategies that integrate transit, active transportation, and emerging technologies.

  • ITS Planning & Signal Design – Contribute to intelligent transportation systems and traffic signal coordination.

  • Project & Grant Management – Lead federally funded projects, ensuring compliance and delivering impactful transportation improvements.

  • GIS & Data Analysis – Utilize geospatial tools to support transportation planning and decision-making.

As a key member of our team, you will:

  • Engage with clients, stakeholders, and community members to drive equitable and sustainable transportation initiatives.

  • Mentor junior staff and foster a collaborative work environment.

  • Lead innovative projects that shape the future of urban mobility and infrastructure.

Qualifications

  • 8+years of directly related experience

  • American Institute of Certified Planner (AICP) Certification Preferred

  • Experience preparing traffic impact studies, multi-modal planning studies and improvements, traffic signal and lighting plans, signing and striping plans, and a variety of technical and planning reports

  • Proficiency in Synchro/SimTraffic, TransCAD, CUBE, AutoCAD, and/or other traffic and engineering software

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to work with and balance priorities among multiple projects and project managers, as well as provide direction to entry-level Transportation Analysts

Salary Range:

  • $90k-$120k

  • Eligible for Performance Based Bonus Compensation
