Emerson Indirect Procurement Controller in St. Louis, Missouri

We are currently recruiting for an Indirect Procurement Controller that will be based in our St. Louis, Missouri location, and in this role your primary objective is to support our indirect procurement transformation, ensuring consistency and compliance with Emerson guidelines. You will provide strong leadership and management of the finance and procurement team, working in partnership with collaborators across the function to offer consistent, high-quality, and proactive advice. A key focus will be on organizational change, working closely with executive leadership to drive and embed the transformation initiatives. Your role will include proactive management of the financial position, leading effective financial planning, forecasting, and monitoring of financial performance. Additionally, you will work across the procurement functions to embed a culture that is financially literate and capable of making sound financial decisions after optimally considering available options. In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

Change Management and Transformation

  • Lead and support the indirect procurement transformation initiatives.

  • Work closely with executive leadership to drive and embed organizational change processes.

  • Ensure alignment of transformation goals with overall financial and organizational objectives.

Financial Reporting & Planning

  • Preparation, management, consolidation and delivery of the annual plan and quarterly re-forecast

  • Creating and maintaining systems of internal controls to safeguard financial assets of Emerson

  • Design, implement, document and maintain policies and procedures that support efficient and effective procurement processes as well as maintaining strong internal controls.

  • Lead all aspects of all financial reporting including daily, weekly and monthly reports of operational and financial performance and budget variances

Financial Management

  • Ensure that accurate monthly management accounts are prepared, and circulated, in compliance with a published annual timetable and development of financial reporting that is future focused and supervises progress towards Emerson annual procurement budgets .

  • Work with the performance and planning team to supervise financial performance within the context of other Emerson functions and their key performance indicators.

  • Carry out financial modelling to support strategic financial planning with emphasis on income drivers and prioritized expenditure options

Financial Accounting, Advice and Specialist Expertise

  • Provide timely and accurate information, financial advice, to business collaborators and other colleagues to advise and influence planning and decision-making. Promote standard methodology on financial and tax issues, sourcing guide advisors as required. Coordinate delivery of inductions and other training in finance and procurement for non-financial staff.

  • Lead on preparation of the annual report and accounts that are compliance with global audit standards.

  • Responsible for the management of investment and cash portfolios, ensuring that functions are fully advised and able to make appropriate decisions. Ensure that cash and investment returns are improved, and that disinvestment/investment is carried out in accordance with the Emerson investment strategy.

Program Administration & Governance

  • Develop controls to supervise & examine transactions for discrepancies / noncompliance to support monthly reporting

  • Develops guidelines to approve new user setup / changes to ensure they have access to vital resources

  • Build and maintain a program roster to keep track on the CTS (Cost to serve)

  • Develop Emerson employee reimbursement and purchase policies

  • Develop & streamline processes to conduct periodical reviews with procurement collaborators to acquire feedback and consensus

  • Develop scorecard with appropriate KPI’s & metrics to supervise the program health

  • Lead the implementation of new processes, conduct follow-up of improvement projects as needed to assess efficiency of new processes

  • Review contract renewals along with assessing supplier performance and develop renewal strategies

  • Confers with Category Teams / Business Stakeholders/ AP to resolve root causes for payment adjustments for purchases, propose solutions to payment problems, review supplier/vendor contracts and payment terms, make business decisions on payment disputes/adjustments to ensure best interest of Emerson

Financial Compliance & Adherence

  • Implements controls and works to ensure compliance with US GAAP and local statutory requirement

  • Prioritize and maintain comprehensive financial and procurement files to ensure compliance with Internal & External audit requirements

  • Ensure adherence of ledger closing deadlines with all the internal & external collaborators.

  • Work in partnership with the cross functional leaders that all relevant legal, regulatory and compliance matters are appropriately handled. Ensure that all key contracts are appropriately checked and supervised.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Create an effective work environment by developing a common vision, communicating clear objectives, fostering collaboration, recognizing performance, and providing coaching

  • Ensure funding & approvals for employee training based on program requirements and continuous people development

  • Find opportunities to involve others in new and bold work assignments and/or rotations that advance the skills and capabilities of individuals and the organization

  • Lead resources and people processes (e.g., Performance Management, Career Development, Training, Staffing, etc.) to ensure the day-to-day administration of processes

  • Conduct performance evaluations in a consistent, fair, and objective manner to encourage continuous performance improvement

  • Make salary and bonus recommendations based on employee feedback & performance

  • Support HR with talent selection, retention, and development to maintain appropriate staffing for Corporate Supply Chain

For This Role, You Will Need:

  • Bachelors degree in Finance or relevant degree

  • Relevant years of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting & supervisory experience commensurate with the level of the position

  • Able to travel 10% to meet business needs

  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now and in the future.

Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:

  • Master’s or Advanced degree

  • CPA / CMA / MBA

  • 8+ years of experience with Financial reporting, budgeting & forecasting

  • 8+ years of experience in supervisory roles
