Leidos Systems Architect in St. Louis, Missouri

Description

Leidos is seeking an experienced Systems Architect to analyze and document an existing IT architecture . This role will be responsible for creating detailed documentation of the current system environment, identifying opportunities for efficiency improvements, system consolidation, and modernization , and developing a strategic roadmap to enhance the organization's IT infrastructure.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in enterprise systems, cloud solutions, integrations, and modernization strategies , balancing business needs, security, and scalability. Additionally, this role requires strong presentation and communication skills , as the architect will be responsible for briefing executives, stakeholders, and customers.

Primary Responsibilities:

Systems Documentation & Analysis

  • Conduct a comprehensive assessment of the current IT architecture, infrastructure, and system interdependencies.

  • Document system components, data flows, integrations, and dependencies in detailed architecture diagrams, models, and reports.

  • Identify and classify legacy systems, outdated technologies, and redundant applications.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders across departments to ensure alignment of system functionality with business objectives.

Identify Improvement & Efficiency Opportunities:

  • Assess current architecture for bottlenecks, inefficiencies, redundancies, and security vulnerabilities.

  • Evaluate cloud migration potential, automation opportunities, and system consolidation possibilities.

  • Identify and recommend cost-saving measures and performance optimization strategies.

Develop a Modernization & Consolidation Roadmap:

  • Create a strategic plan for modernizing the IT environment, including technology upgrades, cloud migration, system decommissioning, and platform integrations.

  • Recommend industry best practices, frameworks (e.g., Microservices Architecture, Zero Trust Security), and emerging technologies to enhance scalability and security.

  • Define an implementation timeline with milestones, resource allocation, and risk mitigation strategies.

Stakeholder Collaboration & Communication:

  • Work closely with IT leadership, development teams, cybersecurity, and business stakeholders to align modernization goals with organizational objectives.

  • Present findings, architectural recommendations, and roadmaps to executives, technical teams, and customers.

  • Act as the face of IT architecture for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring clear and transparent communication of technical strategies.

  • Develop technical documentation and governance policies to ensure standardized architecture frameworks.

Basic Qualifications:

  • TS/SCI Clearance with Polygraph

  • Experience in enterprise systems architecture , IT infrastructure, and system integrations.

  • Proficiency in datacenter and cloud computing (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), microservices, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and API integrations .Strong understanding of legacy system migration strategies, automation, and DevSecOps best practices .

  • Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks .

  • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices in modern IT environment

Experience & Background:

  • 5+ years of experience in systems architecture, IT strategy, enterprise architecture, or infrastructure modernization .

  • Strong track record of documenting complex IT systems, identifying inefficiencies, and leading modernization projects .

  • Experience in designing scalable, high-availability architectures .

  • Previous experience with cloud migrations, application consolidation, and automation strategies .

Soft Skills & Communication:

  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable recommendations .

  • Strong public speaking skills , comfortable giving briefings and presentations to executives, customers, and stakeholders.

  • Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills .

  • Strong collaboration skills with technical and non-technical teams.

  • Experience in presenting findings and strategic roadmaps to senior leadership .

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with data architecture, ETL processes, and analytics platform integration .

  • Knowledge of Agile/DevOps methodologies in IT modernization projects.

  • Experience as a customer-facing architect , engaging in briefings and technical discussions

Pay Range:

Pay Range $112,450.00 - $203,275.00
