This position offers a competitive base pay and is eligible for the Company variable pay (bonus) plan. Benefits start first day and include insurance, paid time off, and various customer discount programs.

The Doe Run Company is currently seeking a Transportation Manager to direct the transportation department to deliver goods to our customers as efficiently as possible while minimizing costs, controlling inventories and allowing the least amount of environmental impact possible. This position is based out of our Corporate Office in St. Louis, MO.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree in Chemistry or Engineering, Environmental, Business Administration or related field.
  • Hazardous Materials Training (DOT).
  • More than 10 years of experience as a Transportation Manager.
  • Experience negotiating transportation contracts.
  • Experience projecting and forecasting transportation needs.
  • Managerial/Supervisory experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, I-Series and PeopleSoft.
  • Knowledge of IMO regulations.
  • Knowledge of domestic and international freight markets.

Responsibilities:

  • Negotiate or approve negotiations for all aspects of transportation of our products with carriers by setting price and reviewing contracts.
  • Evaluate options for loading, unloading, transporting and storing the commodities produced by The Doe Run Company.
  • Develop shipping projections for barge shipment and scheduling by reviewing past shipment data and forecasting future transport needs.
  • Oversee all aspects of distribution of operations.
  • Special Projects - Participate on projects and teams as assigned. (Best Practices Committee, Environmental Management System Team, Port Development, ISO implementation, and Portfolio and Project Management team).
  • Use experience and judgment to set and accomplish goals.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

  • Work is generally performed in a standard office setting.
  • Regularly required to sit for extended periods of time, use repetitive motion, talk and hear. Requires clarity of vision at 20 inches or less and 20 feet or more. Occasionally required to walk through operations.
  • Occasionally required to lift up to 15 pounds.
