Summary

The Plant Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for working and managing the Plant Maintenance Department, preventive maintenance, machine modifications and general ground maintenance, as well as reviewing information and making strategic decisions to improve machine uptime, and reduce expenses, downtime and overtime for a high volume continuous process manufacturing operation. This position reports to the Maintenance Manager.

Essential Duties

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Drive productivity and foster continuous improvement through sound management practices including communication of goals, training of technicians, Repair and operation of machines within established process specifications, and identification and resolution of maintenance related issues.

  • Troubleshoot and quickly resolve machinery issues that are impacting run rates, downtime, or quality.

  • Provide a safe work place through adherence to company safety policy, housekeeping and defined standards of training.

  • Lead safety meetings and pre-shift meetings.

  • Monitor compliance to safety policies and procedures, conduct inspections of plant areas, and ensure deficiencies found are resolved or appropriately communicated. Ensure the maintenance crew is well trained, involved, and committed to meeting production, quality, and safety requirements.

  • Provide leadership and direction to the Maintenance crew on a daily basis. Ensure technicians receive appropriate training for their positions. Participate in the selection discussion for filling open positions and participate in the interview process for new maintenance personnel.

  • Support communication throughout the plant and maintain a union free workplace.

  • Understand and feel comfortable communicating the bonus program so that employees understand their ability to impact results and maximize Operating Income and their bonus opportunity.

  • Complete all required administrative duties accurately and in a timely manner. ● Address performance issues with employees as required. Provide effective employee feedback to employees using the performance evaluation process. Monitor and address poor attendance issues in a timely manner.

  • Maintain accurate timekeeping for maintenance employees and ensure timecards are approved on time.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands

  • Must meet physical requirements to work in confined spaces as required by OSHA

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds

  • Must meet physical requirements to safely operate a forklift as required by OSHA.

  • Must meet physical requirements to safely operate all moving equipment, ie. forklift, manlifts, tractor, sweeper, as required by OSHA.

  • Must be able to climb ladders and stairs

  • Must be able to work standing, stooping, bending, & in squatting position

  • Visual acuity required to monitor product & equipment

  • Manual dexterity required to operate equipment, etc.

  • Must have the ability to work in plant/warehouse environment (including high/low temperatures, dust, humidity, etc.)

Under This Roof, We Require

  • High school graduate or equivalent required.

  • 5+ years maintenance experience in a manufacturing (continuous process) environment.

  • 3+ years recent supervisory experience.

  • Strong background in Allen Bradley PCL systems (Installation, Troubleshooting and Programming.)

  • Strong electrical and mechanical background.

  • SAP & Maximo experience preferred.

  • Excellent communication and administrative abilities.

  • Excellent organizational skills.

  • Proven follow-up and problem resolution ability.

  • Solid computer skills including MS Word and Excel.
