Primary work location will be Berkeley Hospital; however, orientation will take place at Roper Hospital (downtown).

Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

Provides direct patient care and assistance during dialysis treatments under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Performs routine cleaning, disinfecting, and troubleshooting dialysis equipment. Maintains and updates patients records in a timely manner. Assist the staff by performing clerical duties and acknowledge customers upon arrival with an enthusiastic friendly approach.

Essential Job Functions

  • Setup and prepare dialysis machines and equipment for patient treatment sessions.

  • Aware of AAMI, DHEC, CDC, and DOQI guidelines for dialysis equipment and infection control.

  • Keep accurate records of patients' vital signs, medications administered, and other relevant information.

  • Monitor water treatment system, disinfecting, culturing both main and portable reverse osmosis machines.

  • Ordering supplies: familiar with standard and non-standard orders.

  • Under the direction of a RN performs venipuncture of an AVG/AVF and transcribing treatment data to run sheet.

Licensing/Certification

  • Must have a current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider Card.

Education

  • Graduate of an accredited high school or GED equivalency examination.

Work Experience

  • Previous secretarial experience desirable. Previous dialysis experience desirable.
