Heavy Equipment Operator

Reports To: Terry Willman

Essential Job Functions: 1. Department Pct. 1 * Salary Range:* $41,414.40 Yearly

Additional Job Duties:

  1. .Must have or be able to acquire within 3 months, and maintain a valid Texas commercial class A drivers license.
  2. Regular attendance and timeliness in proper physical and mental work condition is required with the understanding that this job will be primary to any other jobs or duties.
  3. Must be available for call outs and able to work late when necessary
  4. Physically capable to safely climb in and on and off equipment, physically lift and maneuver 75 pounds, and operate manual hand tools such as picks and shovels.
  5. Must be able to communicate effectively, professionally, and ethically with management, the general public, other County employees and/or others of appropriate authority
  6. Must be able to pass drug and alcohol testing

EDUCATION: Diploma/GED

EXPERIENCE: preferred but not required

REQUIREDSKILLS: Must be able to operate track-front end loader; operate motor grader; operate all pieces of county equipment; operate dump trucks up to 12 yard capacity; change fan belt on vehicles; change tire on vehicles; change oil and filters on vehicles; perform minor maintenance on all county vehicles; basic welding skills; be able to work on asphalt truck
