Crouse Hospital Manager Pharmacy Operations in Syracuse, New York

Crouse’s Pharmacy Department is hiring a Manager, Pharmacy Operations.

Salary Range: $170,000 plus based on education and experience Manager Requirements:

  • Currently licensed as a Pharmacist in New York State

  • A knowledge of hospital pharmacy and progressively more responsible managerial skills which can be acquired by a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in an institutional setting

    Job Duties:

  • Develops and utilizes department policy statements, scope of service, quality indicators and updates; revises as necessary.

  • Performs staff management functions related to employee selection, on-boarding/orientation, coaching/development, staffing, work assignments, performance management and goal alignment as guided by hospital policy and procedures and collective bargaining unit agreement (when applicable).

  • Participates, collaborates and actively engages in meetings to achieve goals and mutually beneficial outcomes.

  • Conducts regular staff meetings to disseminate hospital and/or department/division information and allows for discussion of staff concerns needing clarification or resolution.

  • Assures that the work of the pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and pharmacy assistants is planned, scheduled, assigned and reviewed appropriately so that complete pharmacy services are maintained. Reassigns work as necessary.

  • Supervises and coordinates the dispensing of new medication orders, refills, and ADC restocking to assure that prescriptions are filled accurately and delivered in a timely fashion.

  • Monitors the I.V. additive, parenteral nutrition, and chemotherapy areas; offers support and makes adjustments as necessary.

  • Solves intradepartmental issues relating to pharmacy responsibilities.

  • Works with the clinical coordinators to ensure appropriate pharmacist care plans are developed and utilized, targeting defined high-risk patient populations.

  • Maintains current knowledge of hospital pharmacy trends, quality improvement and safety initiatives.

  • Generates ideas regarding new programs and streamlining operations.

  • Assists in attaining department goals.

  • Works as a staff pharmacist as required.
