The Role

The Senior Network Implementation Engineer will configure, deploy, and test equipment on the Lumen Transport network to meet engineering standards and customer requirements. Apply Engineering and Telecommunications network principles, theories, concepts and technologies to solve complex problems and issues. Ensure engineering designs and inventory records are valid and accurate. Evaluate, define and determine methods and procedures, standards, requirements and recommendations of standard configurations for network elements.

Location

This role is Work from Home and can be based anywhere in the United States.

The Main Responsibilities

  • Applicants should have knowledge of DWDM/ETHERNET/SDH/SONET principles and network architectures and be conversant with performance measurement/testing techniques and equipment.

  • Experience of interfacing with internal teams for discrepancy/issue resolution such as Planning, Deployment Engineering and GTOE/TNOC. Additionally, interfacing with external vendors will be required periodically to resolve issues.

  • Experience of working in a fast-paced role dealing with multiple deployment projects while exhibiting a high degree of accuracy and accountability.

  • Validate Scope of Work (SOW), Engineering Work Package, and Inventory Records - ensure SOW is valid and in accordance with A&E guidelines, engineering is complete, and records match the network.

  • Provide Project Management Support Throughout the Lifecycle of the Project – ensure PM and field resources are aligned to support installation, commissioning and turn up of the new equipment as well as augmenting existing systems. Manage workflow tasks thru the lifecycle of the project.

  • Provide remote hands and technical support to field personnel with commissioning / establishing remote access to new equipment as well as expanding/augmenting existing systems. Develop test plans, configure equipment and coordinate with field personnel to execute a system BER test. Upgrade software as required, test and capture HK alarming and ensure system is alarm free in order to hand over to operations for acceptance.

  • Create, schedule and support Service Affecting (SA) and Non-Service Affecting (NSA) Global Change Requests (GCRs) /maintenance windows as required to implement the desired solution. Typical maintenance activities include: Node inserts/system uplifts/ring and system reconfigurations.

  • Additional Responsibilities:

  • Support New Product and Platform Introduction – partner with Product, A&E, and SP&T to develop support for new product capabilities and new equipment platforms to enhance the network.

  • Support developing and implementing new automation, reporting capabilities and process improvement initiatives to increase throughput and efficiencies.

  • Support Data Integrity Validation and Improvement

What We Look For in a Candidate

Required

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and relevant experience

  • 5 - 10 years of related experience in telecommunications, engineering, or network planning.

  • Knowledgeable and able to work in various systems and Microsoft Office

  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)

  • Advanced problem-solving skills

  • Excellent time management skills

Preferred

  • 4+ years of experience in telecommunications, engineering, or network planning with a master's degree

  • Professional certifications (CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent)

  • Knowledge of a variety of platforms and infrastructure components:• Ciena 6500 NGO/54xx • Adva FSP• Nokia 1830 PSS• Infinera DNA, DTNX• ALU DMX• Cisco (various platforms)• Outside Plant (OSP) fiber types and characteristics• Familiarity with Inside plant infrastructure• Ethernet switches/terminal servers/timing devices• Power plants/rectifiers• etc.

Compensation

The starting salary for this role differs based on the employee's primary work location. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual's qualifications.

Location Based Pay Ranges

$80510 - $107340 in these states: AR, ID, KY, LA, ME, MS, NE, SC, and SD.

$84740 - $112980 in these states: AZ, AL, FL, GA, IN, IA, KS, MO, MT, NM, ND, OH, OK, PA, TN, UT, VT, WV, WI, and WY.

$88980 - $118630 in these states: CO, HI, MI, MN, NV, NH, NC, OR, and RI.

$93210 - $124280 in these states: AK, CA, CT, DE, DC, IL, MD, MA, NJ, NY, TX, VA, and WA.

As with the pay range variety that's based on the region of a country, specific offers are determined by various factors such as experience, education, skills, certifications and other business needs.

This position is eligible for either short-term incentives or sales compensation. Director and VP positions also are eligible for long-term incentive.
