AdventHealth Chief Medical Officer AdventHealth Medical Group - WFD in Tampa, Florida

We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) position at AdventHealth Medical Group (AHMG) West Florida Division (WFD) located in Tampa, Florida.

General Summary :

Reporting to the chief executive officer of AHMG WFD, the CMO develops governance structures and success metrics which simultaneously drive results and develop physician leadership. The CMO will supervise, guide and manage the clinical performance of all physicians that AdventHealth WFD non-acute services employs to provide inpatient and outpatient medical services for regional hospitals. The CMO provides strategic direction and executive physician leadership to the AHMG WFD and connected care delivery network. The CMO serves as a community resource and manages matters related to physician group relations and current clinical issues. The CMO provides leadership to AHMG departmental triad governance structure of physician leaders, APPs, and vice president leaders who prioritize and execute on operational tactics at the practice level driving excellence in clinical outcomes and creating multidisciplinary approaches to quality, safety, and risk. Oversees physician engagement, alignment and physician supply and demand for practices. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all, treating everyone with dignity. CMO will perform principal duties and functions outlined below.

Job Duties and Responsibilities :

· Communicate with the president, Operating Council, and others as needed, on administrative, clinical, and issues pertaining to WFD AHMG and other non-acute services .

· Establish and maintain courteous, tactful and professional interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with colleagues and populations served by non-acute services and regional hospitals.

· Develop and recommend standard clinical quality metrics and measures for specialty practices and initiatives at regional hospitals and office based practices

· Lead Epic training and support teams for AHMG providers and staff.

· Responsible for developing, evaluating, promoting risk mitigation program within AHMG.

· Responsible for partnerships with rotating student programs for medical, APRN, APP, and medical assistant schools.

· Assist the regional hospital CMOs in implementation of quality metrics and measures approved by the regional hospitals for the outpatient medical practices owned by the regional hospitals .

· Collaborate with regional hospital CMOs to monitor performance of specialty practices along agreed on quality indicators.

· Promote the mission of Extending the Healing Ministry of Christ and hold physicians and clinical staff to provide compassionate patient care consistent with the mission of AdventHealth .

· Be an active participant in the efforts to recruit physicians that will support the Mission, Vision and Values of AdventHealth.

· Lead the strategic development, implementation, and maintenance of strong, comprehensive clinical programs that meet medical group growth initiatives, new delivery care models and the needs of patient populations in the community.

· Ensure and foster a high level of collaboration within a highly matrixed team environment to coordinate patient outcomes, exchange information, and resolve problems.

· Affirmatively provides counsel to executive management team discussions and action plans related to service changes, improvements, new service/program offerings inclusive of all operational and strategy decision.

· Responsible for physician coaching and engagement strategies including physician recruitment and promoting programs which enhance physician satisfaction.

· Provide leadership, supervision, guidance, and development for physicians, articulating and demonstrating an expectation for continuous quality improvement, as well as continually supporting and exhibiting AdventHealth service standards.

· Support quality and safety initiatives of AdventHealth through education, standardization and implementation of system strategies.

· Serve as the medical liaison between AHMG and the organization’s population health and value-based care/risk management functions with emphasis on operationalizing strategies that improve patient care across the continuum.

· Collaborate with the AHMG physician practices, employed physicians, the leadership within AHMG and the executive leadership to ensure that appropriate physician group structure, policies and procedures are operational to ensure clinical performance.

· Establish and execute standards and policies to ensure clinical excellence while driving clinical quality medical care outcomes.

· Develop and lead physician and advanced practitioners’ growth, professional development and assessment of performance.

· Develop and lead in collaboration with executive leadership and physician teams strategies that optimize AHMG as a preferred employer of physician and advanced practitioners.

· Ensure adherence to physician practices on professionalism, quality and safety issues, and excessive or inappropriate utilization of resources.

· Collaborate with medical staff leaders including department medical directors and elected medical staff leaders on patient safety issues.

· Ensure medical staff development plans and programs are implemented and aligned with best practices.

· Strategize and drive process improvements focused on innovative care delivery designed to improve clinical services, outcomes, patient throughput, and patient safety.

· Provide leadership and vision in the development of clinical guidelines and care pathways.

· Establish AHMG medical governance model, the Systems Operations Council (SOC). leading management triads of physician leaders, APP leaders, and operational VPs for all specialties driving excellence in clinical outcomes and creating multidisciplinary approaches to quality, safety, patient satisfaction, and relevant operational items.

Qualifications

Education, Licensure and Experience Required :

· MD or DO degree from an accredited school

· 10 years of progressive physician leadership experience within a medium to large multi-specialty physician group

· Unrestricted Florida license or licensure from another state with verification of application and eligibility for Florida licensure endorsement
