About the Team

As a Technical Program Management Intern or Program Management Intern at Mastercard, you’ll learn to understand the what, how, and why to determine the when – and operate across tools (and outside of them) to drive the execution of the delivery plan for your respective program. Interns hired in our Technical Program Management or Program Management functions will be aligned to organizations across Mastercard Technology. Team placement opportunities may include Technology Strategy & Transformation, Network Gateway Engineering, Decision Management Platform, Open Banking Global Operations, Mainframe and Operations, and Global Market Technology

Internship Program

Mastercard’s summer internship program provides emerging talent with projects that will enhance skills as well as contribute to the department’s goals and objectives. In this program, you will participate in:

Role Description

Our Technical Program Managers conceptualize, rationalize, and drive multiple simultaneous projects to deliver engineering work across the portfolio in our scrum execution model. In this role, you get to dive as deep as you want into the tech stack, the integration patterns, the organizational capabilities, and the company wide assets that can be leveraged to provide technical solutions to customer problems. You may contribute to the strategies, design choices, and even the cloud infrastructure necessary to build comprehensive believable and achievable execution plans to deliver high-profile new features and capabilities for our customers. You may drive the execution of a feature through the full stack or may drive a project which spans multiple teams and integrations, reporting meaningful status along the way. 

Our Program Managers support the execution of multiple complex business initiatives across geographies, in a coordinated way from inception through successful delivery. In this role, you’ll work across multiple teams (may be cross-cutting across programs, business/engineering teams, and/or technologies or work may be vertically focused on a single program within a domain) to drive strategy alignment and partnership against complex objectives. Our Program Managers proactively mobilize, orchestrate, and accelerate complex initiatives with dependent organizations to ensure successful execution and completion while regularly defining and reviewing key success metrics for data-focused tracking and proactively seeking out new & improved mechanisms for visibility ensuring their programs stay aligned with the organization's objectives.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program majoring in Computer Science or a related field with a graduation date of December 2025 or beyond

  • Ideally studying engineering management, information systems, finance, analytics, business, or a related field

  • Demonstrated ability to operate with independence, autonomy, solid ownership, and a continuous improvement mindset

  • Proven track record of data driven decision-making and applying continuous improvement methodologies across teams 

  • Can communicate with impact, build relationships, and partner/influence dependent teams while commanding the respect of the individuals you work with across the organization

  • Strong interest in technology, especially through a data-driven lens

  • Experience breaking down problems, organizing work, planning sprints, and delivering work in agile delivery models (scrum, Kanban, etc.) a plus

In line with Mastercard’s total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary based on location, experience and other qualifications for the role and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role.
