Full-time nonexempt position in Neurology. The location is 6410 Fannin St., Houston, Texas 77030.

We are hiring immediately for a Medical Sonographer II to join the UTHealth McGovern Medical School, Department of Neurology in Houston, Texas 77030. The ideal candidate will have prior experience as a Medical Sonographer in a fast-paced environment. Bilingual in Spanish is preferred. Experience with Epic and Care4/Cerner is a plus.

RVT and TCD (Transcranial Doppler) experience are highly preferred. The position supports the Department of Neurology.

Position Summary:

Operates ultrasound equipment and performs a variety of technical procedures to produce images for patient diagnosis.

Position Key Accountabilities:

  1. Operates ultrasound equipment and records results. Adjusts parameters on equipment, and reviews calibrations to assure that scans are reproducible under similar conditions.

  2. Assists with research activities.

  3. Performs basic maintenance on equipment to assure proper working conditions.

  4. Assists with research activities by collecting data and participating in research projects.

  5. Demonstrates the use of ultrasound equipment and techniques to assist with the education of students, nurses, residents, patients, and physicians.

  6. Attend continuing education seminars to stay abreast of technological advances in ultrasound.

  7. Must be able to respond to emergency situations.

  8. May perform other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills:

Registered with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS).

Minimum Education:

Graduate of an AMA-approved school of Radiologic Technology or its equivalent.

Associate Degree preferred.

Minimum Experience:

Two years experience in diagnostic ultrasound.

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds frequently and/or up to 20 pounds constantly to move objects.

Residency Requirement:

Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
