UCLA Health Dietitian II in Thousand Oaks, California

Description

The Department of Medicine is seeking a dedicated Dietitian II to join our team. The ideal candidate will evaluate the nutritional needs of patients with digestive disorders, tailoring individualized meal plans with ongoing follow-up. They will educate and empower patients by teaching general nutrition, weight management, and healthy eating skills, providing one-on-one consultations, TeleHealth sessions, and leading group classes and support groups. The role involves collaborating and communicating with physicians and staff by interpreting current nutritional recommendations, actively participating in patient care, and dietary planning. The Dietitian II will engage with the community to maintain recognized expertise by working closely with community organizations, reinforcing treatment plans, and suggesting modifications as needed. Flexibility and willingness to travel to various UCLA sites to consult with patients and collaborate with healthcare providers are essential. A deep understanding of and at least 2 years of experience with digestive disorders are preferred. Annual range: $78,989-$104,170

Qualifications

Required:

  • Must possess equivalent of a Master's degree in Nutrition or Public Health, have completed an A.N.D. internship and be a certified registered dietician.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with physician(s) and nurses and follow through with all assignments.

  • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge and expertise in current concepts of medical nutritional management and practices in Celiac Disease, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Irritable Bowel Syndrome and other digestive disorders.

  • Demonstrated experience in interviewing patients and participants of all age groups, in nutritional data collection and assessments, and in developing and working with patients with digestive disorders.

  • Demonstrated experience in individual and group nutritional counseling and education. Strong skills in assessing, designing, implementing, and evaluating the nutritional and educational needs of participants.

  • Demonstrated skill to communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, nursing staff, front office, and department personnel, both orally and in writing.

  • Demonstrated ability to interact in a professional manner with a diverse patient population and with difficult situations presented by this diversity.

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain patient confidentiality.

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain medical charts and documentation.

Preferred:

  • Have knowledge and 2+ years prior experience with digestive disorders preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to organize and maintain efficient client flow in daily schedule
