About the role

The purpose of this position is to support third-party data center (3PDC) projects for CBRE’s clients, and provide technical guidance and input. The Senior Data Center Mechanical Engineer (3PDC) will be primarily responsible for supporting Senior Engineers across the program with documentation updates during technical due diligence for new and existing facilities. The ideal candidate should possess a working knowledge of electrical power systems, security, civil, structural, architectural, and other relevant disciplines.

What you’ll do

  • Review and assist in the evaluation of third-party data center sites, ensuring technical compliance and adherence to standards.

  • Proactively identify collaborators and work with them to strategize, plan, and prioritize objectives and success criteria. Estimate task durations, and ensure schedules and dependencies are aligned and support those objectives within an organization

  • Develop reliability, availability, and maintainability (RAM) analysis to optimize the performance and efficiency of data center operations.

  • Thoroughly review detailed design documents for third-party data center sites, ensuring accuracy and compliance with requirements.

  • Interact directly with clients in order to prepare all elements of the project.

  • Supporting senior level engineering with tasks to compile documentation to be included in presentations and contracts.

  • Support operations with day-to-day questions about documentation. Support the organization and improvement of program standards.

  • Collaborate with the team to identify opportunities for optimization and improvement of standard engineering programs for Technical Due Diligence.

  • Coordinate documentation of mechanical design for data center projects.

What you’ll need

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred with 8-10 years of solid experience. In lieu of a degree, a combination of experience and education will be considered.

  • Solid understanding of large-scale, complex data center infrastructure.

  • A solid understanding of the commercial real estate industry in the areas of financial analysis, project management, construction, ethical practices, business operations, marketing, and business development.

  • Experience and knowledge of working with cross-disciplinary teams, including structural, civil, IT/Telecom, security, mechanical, electrical, and architectural.

  • The innovative mentality to develop methods that go beyond existing solutions.

  • Experience with data center projects inside and outside of the US.

  • Ability to solve outstanding problems using standard and innovative solutions having a broad impact on the business.

  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Suite products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, Projects, PowerPoint, MS Projects, etc.

  • Expert interpersonal skills with an inquisitive mentality.

  • Prefer experience with AutoCAD, Revit, NasvisWorks or equivalent Licensed PE is desirable

The minimum salary for this position is $155,000 annually and the maximum salary for this position is $190,000 annually. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience. Successful candidates will also be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on Turner & Townsend’s applicable benefit program.
