Canadian Tire Product Manager, Search Platform in Toronto, Ontario

What you’ll do

As a Technical Product Manager for our Search Platform, you will oversee the development, optimization, and innovation of our search functionalities across all of our banners, including Canadian Tire, Sportchek, and Marks, both online and in-store. Your role will be vital in driving the user experience and improving search accuracy by leveraging machine learning, data analysis, and A/B testing.

You will be joining Canadian Tire at a pivotal time, as you will be shaping the future roadmap of our Search Platform for years to come.

  • Search Expertise: Be the Search SME at Canadian Tire and guide product development to ensure best-in-class search experiences.

  • API Development: Understanding of APIs and how they work, and ability to collaborate with the technical teams to ensure solutions designed meet the customer needs.

  • Strategy & Roadmap: Define and execute the search strategy and roadmap for the search platform, aligning it with business goals and customer needs.

  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams including engineering, data science, data syndication, merchandizing, other product managers and UX/UI to deliver high-quality search solutions.

  • ML Integration: Collaborate with data scientists to integrate advanced machine learning models that enhance search relevance and personalization.

  • Performance Monitoring & Data Analysis: Continuously monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), user behavior data, and feedback to identify opportunities for improvement.

  • A/B Testing: Help design, implement, and analyze A/B tests to optimize search features and ensure data-driven decision making.

  • eCommerce Merchandising: Support the eComm merchandising team to achieve their business objectives by being the Search & Merchandizing SME.

  • Agile Development: Lead agile development processes by writing clear user stories, defining acceptance criteria, and ensuring timely delivery of product increments.

  • Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in search technology to continuously evolve our platform.

What you bring

  • Minimum of 5 years of product management experience, with at least 3 years focused on search technologies.

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent.

  • Demonstrated subject matter expertise in the eComm retail search space.

  • Strong understanding of machine learning principles and their application in enhancing search functionality.

  • Proficiency in data analysis techniques and tools.

  • Hands-on experience with A/B testing methodologies and tools.

  • Proven expertise in search relevance & ranking optimization, personalization and predictive search technologies.

  • Experience with API development and management.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and a customer-centric mindset.

  • Experience working in Agile methodologies. SAFe agile is a plus.

  • Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence applications in eCommerce, including LLM & conversational search is an asset.

  • Proficiency in SQL for data querying and analysis is an asset.

  • Experience in fitted automotive search is an asset.
