The Activity Based Workplace Transformation (ABWT) Program realizes an integrated campus vision for head office, delivering a new Way of Working that connects Scotiabankers with a shared purpose, and provides the physical space, technology, and behavioural tools to enhance productivity and the employee experience through the implementation of Activity Based Working and Ecosystems.

As a member of the ABWT team the Senior Manager, Workplace Effectiveness leads and is accountable for the ongoing sustainment of Ecosystems and other supported Workplaces and is a champion for Workplace Transformation. Each Senior Manager is assigned multiple Ecosystems and/or other supported Workplaces for which they are responsible.

Sustainment is defined as ensuring the population maintains the integrity of the workplace model (ABW in Ecosystems) created in terms of established space, technology and behavioural standards.

Is This Role Right for You? In this role, you will:

Leadership & Strategic Relationship Management

  • Responsible for the ongoing leadership engagement process, including being the primary point of contact and strategic relationship manager for leadership:

  • Responsible for building cross-functional relationships where persuasion, negotiation and considerable tact are required to maintain support for Workplace Transformation and ABW.

  • Prepares for, administers, schedules and runs Governance Council sessions, including, but not limited to: preparing meeting materials, monthly reporting dashboard and recommending assignment of shared resources (project spaces, team walls), etc.

  • Responsible for understanding the composition of their supported Ecosystems or Workplaces, how they work, understanding and recommending strategic changes to the population for optimal use of space

  • Responsible for VP+ Onboarding to the Ecosystem/Workplace

  • Responsible for change support activities (i.e., Business Readiness, Deep Dives, Info Sessions) for larger population additions and moves.

Program Sustainment & Continuous Improvement

  • Responsible for the ongoing sustainment, continuous improvement, and overall effectiveness of supported workplaces to ensure that it is functioning in the target model:

  • Collaborates with Operations and Technology teams (and other workstreams as required), resolving issues and negotiating solutions between team members and stakeholders to meet objectives, overcome obstacles and/or recommend alternatives, as required.

  • Leads, designs and delivers sustainment interventions in consultation with the Real Estate Change Management team incl. change support activities (e.g. lunch and learns, team huddle content, roadshows) and training sessions as required – including the development of strategic action plans to resolve issues where required, recommendations for continuous improvement and program enhancements.

  • Provide insights and recommendations on multiple complex projects within change sustainment where a high degree of judgement is required to develop solutions.

  • Responsible for developing and implementing mechanisms to support ABW (or other Workplace) model sustainment and program enhancements – including integration and adoption of new elements, supporting test & learn pilots to inform new program solutions, etc.

  • Leverages program metrics and KPIs to drive strategic discussions with Governance Councils and Leaders (VP+), providing insights and recommendations to optimize each supported Ecosystem or Workplace –incl. development and delivery of action plans to improve metrics where required.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Supports the implementation of key strategic initiatives from Real Estate, HR, Ops/Tech, including Hybrid and W4 strategies for supported populations, incl. distributed teams, MS Teams, Team Norms, other training or engagements as required.

  • Adoption of Digital Tools (incl. training, best practices)

  • Hybrid and W4 (i.e., ‘We Care’, ‘You Decide’, Team Norms)

  • ERGs, Staff Ombuds, Other, etc.

  • Workplace Effectiveness & Optimization to support the GTA Office Roadmap Strategy

  • Other ad hoc project work as required from time to time. This includes collection/reporting of program metrics, the maintenance of the playbook for program change management and/or other process documents and program artifacts, and supporting the onboarding of employees into Ecosystems or other supported Workplaces as required.

  • Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

  • Creates an environment in which their team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

  • Builds a high performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviours; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and, managing succession and development planning for the team.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We’d love to work with you if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or other similar

  • Proven experience in workplace transformation, workplace strategy and/or change management

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills/relationship management

  • Excellent communicator with strong presentation and facilitation skills

  • Must be proactive, self-starter and capable of learning new technologies

  • Capable of moving forward through complex situations

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple initiatives, guide resources, internal/external partners and other team members as required

  • Certified Change Management or similar certifications an asset (i.e., Prosci)

  • Spanish and/or French language proficiency an asset
