Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC) located in scenic Upstate NY is a multi-campus College with locations in Troy and Malta New York. HVCC offers more than 80 degree and certificate programs in three schools: Business and Liberal Arts; Health Sciences; and Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). Hudson Valley is one of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York (SUNY) system and serves nearly 9,000 students each year. In order to be considered an applicant for this position you must meet the minimum qualifications as stated in this announcement. HVCC does not support Visas. Applicants must currently hold an unrestricted employment authorization to work in the United States and appointment will be contingent upon completion of a background check.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree, four years of relevant experience in a post-secondary educational setting involving direct student contact and routine use of student records and record systems, two years of experience related to transcript review and evaluation and excellent oral and written communications skills are required.

Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree, Banner experience and technical ad hoc report writing are preferred.

Nature and Scope of Duties: The Coordinator of Transfer Services reports to the Registrar and/or their designee and performs the following duties:

• Coordinates the process of awarding transfer credit, including but not limited to:

a) evaluation of credit from other institutions after articulation by the Department Chairperson

b) granting of credit by examination as listed in the College Catalog

c) granting of credit in accordance with college credit recommendation services as outlined in the College Catalog

d) processing transfer credit

• Coordinates with the Admissions Office to ensure that transfer evaluations are completed and processed for all students in a timely manner.

• Makes recommendations related to the enrollment process for transfer students.

• Responds to student inquiries related to transfer credit, including assisting students with the SUNY transfer appeal process.

• Assists the campus community (students, department chairpersons, advisors, staff, parents, etc.) in understanding College policies and procedures related to transfer credit.

• Supports the SUNY transfer mobility policy and is responsible for the implementation and maintenance/testing of the following:

a) course equivalency management system

b) transfer software for student use

c) SUNY Reverse Transfer process

• Works closely with department chairs (or designee) to facilitate course articulation and oversees maintenance of software related to course equivalency.

• Coordinates with the process to determine if a student with a prior degree can be accepted into another program at the associate level.

• Works collaboratively with Instructional and Information Technology staff to troubleshoot technical issues with various software products and provide training when necessary.

• May supervise Technical Assistants and Program Assistants.

• Assists other offices within the division of the Student Affairs on an as needed basis.

• Partakes on committees – both internal and external, makes presentations, and conducts academic informational sessions and/or workshops.

• Design and maintain transfer web sites. Develop web site training for faculty, staff and students. Promote transfer web site as an advising tool and provide advisors with web access to transfer course equivalency guided, articulation agreements, joint admissions forms, transfer applications and transfer scholarships.

• Performs administrative tasks associated with transfer department activities. Compiles, analyzes and reports various transfer statistics and files performance reports. Produce an annual transfer report using data gathered from the National Student Clearinghouse. Design and produce transfer follow-up studies with area colleges and universities.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

This is a 12-month, Full-Time position with a salary range of $51,000-$54,000.00
