The Leadership Gift Officer (LGO) is a front-line fundraiser and a member of the Office of Institutional Advancement. The LGO is responsible for soliciting unrestricted and restricted charitable gifts from donors and alumnae/i to Russell Sage College. The LGO reports directly to the Senior Director of Major Gifts and works collaboratively with the Senior Director of Annual Giving.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain a portfolio of annual fund prospects (100+ constituents).

  • Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward annual fund and potential major gifts to the College ($5,000-$25,000).

  • Conduct a minimum of 12-15 personal and event visits per month (visits can be a hybrid of in person and/or virtual).

  • Serve as a member of both the Annual Fund and the Major Gifts teams, working to reach annual target goals each year, grow the annual fund, and build the pipeline of annual and major gift prospects.

  • Work with Senior Director of Annual Giving to grow and expand President's Society membership.

  • Comply with prospect management guidelines for data entry and metric compliance.

  • Attend regularly scheduled College and Advancement meetings, as appropriate.

The estimated salary is $58,458 per year for 40 hours per week for 52 weeks.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree is required; an advanced degree in a discipline is desirable.

  • Experience in higher education, especially in soliciting and closing annual fund gifts, preferred, but comparable experience will also be considered.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word and Excel required. Knowledge of Colleague Database system helpful.

  • Strong administrative skills, creativity, organizational ability, attention to detail and focus needed.

  • Knowledge of development concepts and fundraising techniques, especially those related to annual giving, is advantageous.

  • The ability to work effectively in a team approach with colleagues and volunteers and enjoys working with people.

  • The ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.

  • The ability to communicate in a professional, courteous, and organized manner with staff and diverse external populations.

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to travel both regionally and across the country.

  • Ability to work weekends and evenings, as needed.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage deadlines.

*This position currently qualifies for a "flexible work arrangement" as defined by the RSC Remote and Flexible Work Policy performed in part on-site at RSC and in part at an off-campus location via telework. Hours performed off campus must be approved by your supervisor.
