The Electrical Engineering Manager of the CT Fleet leads a team of highly technical engineers that support the plant technical requirements. Requires day-to-day management of engineering staff in maintaining plant performance, compliance, and reliability. This position provides mentoring, leadership, and supervision to a staff of engineers and technicians who support preventive/predictive maintenance activities and the development and execution of Capital Projects at generation facilities. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring day-to-day technical support of the fleet, special project support, developing initiatives to improve fleet reliability, electric reliability organization engineering support, and transmission owner/operator coordination for data requests. The Electrical Engineering Manager CT fleet is responsible for ensuring site coverage and support and is occasionally required to provide on-site coverage for engineering staff.
Job Duties:
Provide day-to-day management to the technical engineering staff in support of Plant Operations and maintenance.
Manage the development of engineering solutions, including problem definition, alternatives analysis, project scoping, cost estimating, and business case development.
Create a work environment that promotes innovation, development of engineering/technical skills, and continuous improvement.
Provide engineering support to ensure the Corporation's compliance with NERC Reliability Standards. This shall include technical evaluation of work required to comply with the Standards, performance and/or oversight of work required, evidence generation, procedure development, data requests, TO/TOP coordination, new standard implementation, etc.
Develop and review fleet maintenance practices, processes, and procedures.
Oversee Electrical Testing, Predictive/Preventive Maintenance, overhauls, and construction at Plants or repair facilities.
Serve as the OPC technical expert on electrical power engineering and predictive and preventive maintenance.
Establish and implement for Electrical Engineering Group short and long-term goals, objectives, policies, and procedures, monitor and evaluate effectiveness, and initiate improvement as necessary.
Maintain knowledge and understanding of OPC policies and procedures.
Provide services, such as the review of drawings, specifications, design memoranda, etc., to generation projects in development or under construction.
Perform various ad hoc studies, and analyses, research special topics and issues, and develop communications products such as PowerPoint presentations, white papers, or briefing materials as necessary.
Required Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering or engineering technology (preferably BSEE) - Technical and business knowledge of generating plant operation, performance, and economics.
Experience:10+ years minimum engineering and five years minimum preventive and predictive maintenance experience in an operating commercial electric power generating plant is required, including planning, budgeting, preventive and predictive maintenance, and maintenance analysis. 5 years minimum experience with performance management, including supervision of direct reports.
Licenses, Registrations, and/or Certifications: Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred and valid driver's license that meets the insurance requirements under Oglethorpe Power's Drivers Qualification Program.
