Job Summary: Maintains all laundry equipment to ensure the quality of linen processed and timely delivery of linen to all customers.
Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED.
Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: None.
Work Experience: 1 - 2 years related experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Must be computer literate with knowledge of Excel, Word and Outlook. Must have good knowledge of diagnostic equipment, electrical applications and mechanical applications.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Assembles, installs, repairs and maintains laundry/housekeeping equipment including the conveyor system, tunnel batch washer, dryers, all folders, spreader feeders, small item folders and ironers. Maintains parts inventory and submits list of items to Manager for reorder. Inspects machinery/equipment to gain access to defective parts. Searches for new, used and rebuilt parts through various vendors for best pricing. Conducts periodic preventive maintenance checks on all equipment. Keeps equipment and work area clean of lint, grease and oil. Completes work assignments and requests, giving a detailed account of parts and time needed on equipment. Follows safe work practices and infection control procedures.
Decision Making: Independent judgment in making minor decisions where alternatives are limited and standard policies/protocols have been established.
Working Relationships: Coordinates activities of others (does not supervise). Works directly with patients and/or customers. Works with internal customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with external customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with other healthcare professionals and staff.
