Washington State Patrol Electronic Design Engineer in Tumwater, Washington

The Electronic Services Division (ESD) supports all goals, most directly sustain and enhance agency infrastructure and business processes, by improving collaboration outcomes between WSP business and technology divisions, using consistent planning processes, increasing business continuity capabilities, and providing quality communication services statewide.
Duties:
Provide{#msoanchor1 rel="nofollow"} expert radar, lidar, and aerial testimony in the Washington State court system; supply necessary SMD technical and certification information to the public and defense and prosecuting attorneys. Evaluate, procure, and validate the SMD equipment used by the WSP. Establish testing procedures and schedules for re-certification of SMD to ensure measurement accuracy. Perform or supervise the testing and certification of lidar, radar and aerial units. Specify the test equipment, components, and procedures used in the repair, testing and certification of all WSP SMDs. Assist ESD and FOB management in the coordinating of the SMD certification program with all ESD and FOB personnel and with the Washington State Courts. Our new teammate will be able to:
- Provide expert Radar/Lidar testimony in the Washington State Court System.
- Plan, prioritize, and supervise SMD testing and certification.
- Assist ESD and FOB management in the coordinating of the SMD certification program with all ESD and FOB personnel, and with the Washington State Court System.
- Select, procure, control, evaluate, and validate the SMD equipment used by the WSP.
- Perform General Administrative Duties.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics *AND *four years of experience in a field related to law enforcement Speed Measuring Devices.
- Additional experience and/or technical training in electronics or electrical engineering may be substituted for educational requirements on a year for year basis.
