About our Team

As a Product Manager, you will be guiding the production and delivery of printed directories. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to create workflows, ultimately delivering print-ready files to third-party printers. You will also be managing production schedules and collaborating with stakeholders to deliver high-quality products on time and within budget.

About the Role

The Product Manager is responsible for coordinating and executing the production-to-delivery process for multiple print directories every six months and occasional customized financial directories when ordered.

Responsibilities

  • Working with all stakeholders, create, publish and oversee execution of production schedules for all directory publications.

  • Compose raw data after extraction from company databases, placing graphics, creating layouts, working with Publisher and Editorial through editing and proofing processes.

  • Pre-flight/process client ad files as required, occasionally working directly with advertisers to resolve materials errors when necessary.

  • Collaborating with the Editorial and Data teams, create page layouts for directory covers and front-matter pages across all titles.

  • Oversee proofing process with Editorial, correcting proofs as requested until finalized.

  • Prepare and upload final directory PDF to print vendor’s website for printer set-up, final proofing and production.

  • Review and format Major Shipping and Weekly Shipping/Distribution files, e-mailing to printer by deadlines.

  • Obtain and assign ISBN numbers for each directory edition and file final print copies with the U.S. Copyright Office, securing required copyrights.

  • Request quotes for customized financial directories when requested by Account Managers. Once sold, set up production schedules for custom financial directories with printer and customer, providing customer with final production schedule and specifications for any customizable materials. Oversee complete production process through to delivery for each title.

  • Enter new listings, updates and deletions to The Red Book Database, assisting Editor as needed.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in all aspects of print production – preferably 3+ years – working with printers and converting electronic publishing files into system-ready PDFs for pre-press work and final printing.

  • Proficiency in the Adobe Design Suite, specifically in Illustrator, InDesign, PhotoShop, and Acrobat.

  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams.

  • Excellent time-management, organizational and customer-service skills.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to communicate effectively.
