Overview

Be part of the Decision Management Program, which creates services for multiple business solutions to combat fraud and validate cardholder identity in real-time. Our patented platform processes billions of transactions per month, in milliseconds, using a multi-tiered, message-oriented approach for high performance and availability. Additionally, web applications and web services for managing fraud solutions round out the critical platform capabilities.

Role

This Manager role will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the local Performance Engineering team for the Decision Management Program. The focus areas of this team include, but are not limited to, doing the Capacity Planning and Performance Testing of our applications and infrastructure to ensure they are capable of handling the demand of our workloads and that our solutions can continue to scale as these workloads grow.

Additional expectations for this role include:

• Working closely with DMP leadership to drive vision and help take that vision to implementation.

• Leading scrum teams to meet commitments and maintain high quality deliverable objectives.

• Being a hands-on technical leader who brings considerable experience doing Performance Engineering.

• Being a good people manager to help build employee careers and handle day-to-day activities.

• Managing vendor relationships for SOW engagements and vendor software packages we utilize on the platform.

• And consistently raise standards, insisting on continuously improving the processes and practices associated with Performance Engineering.

This Manager role will partner with solution architects, software engineers, and other Performance team roles to organize work that focuses on assessing the platform’s needs, helping design new capabilities, building and running tests/proof-of-concepts, troubleshooting problems, identifying risks, and making recommendations. A successful candidate will ensure potential performance and availability challenges are proactively identified, recommendations implemented, and that the systems’ capacity and availability exceed requirements while ensuring the platform achieves business results.

The ideal candidate for this position should possess the following traits:

• Must be high-energy, detail-oriented, proactive and can function under pressure.

• Must provide the necessary skills to have a high degree of initiative and self-motivation to drive results.

• Possesses strong communication skills - both verbal and written – and strong relationship, collaborative, and organizational skills.

• Willingness and ability to learn and take on challenging opportunities and to work as a member of matrix based diverse and geographically distributed project team.

• Knowledge of software development processes including agile processes.

• Experience with the design and development of complex and multi-tier architectures.

• A quick learner and able to drive teams around technical solution.

Additionally, an ideal candidate would have intermediate knowledge and experience in the following areas:

• Performance Engineering practices associated with the operation of mission critical, high volume, low latency services utilizing physical and virtual infrastructure, ranging from public cloud to private datacenters.

• Helping to define the non-functional requirements associated with solutions.

• Designing and executing performance tests to ensure our solutions meet the non-functional requirements defined.

• Passionate about solving complex performance and availability problems

• A wide breadth and depth of technical experience including Java, Linux, and Oracle

• Performance tools such as LoadRunner, JMeter, Gatling, Dynatrace, software profilers, Splunk, etc.

• Capacity modeling/planning processes and tools.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field.
