Nuclear Fuel Services Shipping Assistant in Vancouver, British Columbia

We are currently recruiting for a V4 Shipping Assistant for our facility in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

JOB SUMMARY:

Assist the Shipping Coordinator for the safe, efficient operation of the Isotope Shipping Area by co-ordinating the daily functions within the area and ensuring scheduled deliveries of BWXT Medical Ltd.’s products. Accept incoming radioactive shipments from production. Monitor shipments, trace lost or delayed shipment and report status to Manager and customers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assemble and organise all required documentation for shipments. 2. Check and verify that shipping documents and labels are accurate (i.e. no discrepancies exist in pot, label and isotope quantity information). 3. Package product, perform Transportation Index measurements, ensure that each package conforms and meets IATA Regulations for Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG). Reject and return packages that do not conform to such regulations to Production. 4. Deliver products and be responsible for maintenance and safe operation of company vehicles and safe loading and unloading of vehicles for active shipments. 5. Track and trace shipments to ensure delivery schedules to customers are maintained. Advise customer of any deviations whilst en route. 6. Handle and transfer product in F271 containers to shipping area and prepare for shipment in accordance to applicable regulations. 7. Prepare documentation for all non-active shipments.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be able to follow AECB, IAEA, and IATA regulations. Especially regulations governing the international shipments of Class 7 products.

  • Must be able to obtain the following certifications: Transprtation of Dangerous Goods, Nuclear Energy Worker, Air Cargo Security, and any other that is required for this position. .

  • Must have a valid full B.C. driver’s licence.

  • Must be able to lift 25 kg

  • Must be capable of operating a forklift

  • Must have a good knowledge of Vancouver Operations, products and general procedures.

  • Must use initiative and judgement to ensure product is shipped from facility to meet customer needs.

  • Knowledge of computer software, (Word, Excel) an advantage.

  • Must be able to organise, prioritise shipments on a daily basis, especially handling rush shipments at short notice.

  • Capable of handling large volumes of work under pressure and meet cut-off times and deadlines effectively.

  • Capable of resolving discrepancies between orders, shipments and paperwork, prior to shipments leaving facility.

    The pay range for this position in [[stateProvince]] is expected to be between $[[custsalaryMin]] and $[[custsalaryMax]] per year. The total compensation package for this position may also include a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits.
