AT International Union of Elevator Constructors #62 App Elev/Escalator Constructor/Modernize in Various Locations, New York
The Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee for The International Union of Elevator Constructors (IUEC), Local Union #62, will conduct a recruitment from May 7, 2025 through June 6, 2025 for ten elevator/escalator constructor and modernizer apprentices.
Applications can be completed online only from May 7, 2025 9:00 a.m. to June 6, 2025 5:00 p.m. at www.neieprecruitment.org Applicants who do not have access to a computer may visit their local library or New York State Department of Labor Career Center (see: https://dol.ny.gov/career-centers).
Applicants must take and score a minimum of 70 on the Elevator Industry Aptitude Test. A photo ID will be required on the day of EIAT testing. The test includes a tool assessment designed to assess knowledge of basic tools and their use, as well as basic measuring skills. Scores are part of the evaluation.
There is a $25 application fee (that covers the cost of the aptitude test). The payment must be paid via credit card or debit card only. If an applicant does not have a credit or debit card, they may contact the Area Coordinator-Jeffrey Handibode at (781) 860-2192 to discuss alternative payment options.
Please note, you may request that this fee be waived for financial need purposes. Fee waivers will be approved upon showing verifiable proof of financial need. All applications must be received by no later than June 6, 2025.
Previously hired IUEC apprentices may not apply through recruitment.
The Committee requires that applicants:
Must be at least 18 years old. Must have a high school diploma or a high school equivalency diploma (such as TASC or GED). Proof of education (high school transcript, high school diploma, official report of GED or TASC test results) will be required after an offer of employment and prior to enrollment in apprenticeship. Failure to provide verification on stated date of an offer of employment, said apprentice will be removed from the hiring list immediately for failing to meet stated requirements. Must pass a drug test, at the expense of the sponsor, after selection and prior to enrollment in apprenticeship. Must attest to being physically capable of performing the work of the trade, which may include lifting, climbing, and working from heights without posing a threat to the health and safety of themselves or others. Must be a resident of Local Union #62 jurisdiction which includes the following: The counties of Broome, Cayuga, Chenango, Cortland, Jefferson, Lewis, Oswego, St. Lawrence, Tioga, and Tompkins, Onondaga, Seneca, Franklin. In Madison County - the towns of Cazenovia, Chittenango, Deruyter, Eaton, Fenner, Georgetown, Lebanon, Lenox, Nelson, and Sullivan. In Oneida County - the towns of Camden, Florence, and Vienna. In Delaware County - the towns of Deposit, Franklin, Masonville, Sidney, Tompkins, and Walton. Must have reliable transportation to and from job sites and required classes at the approved school. Apprentice programs registered with the Department of Labor must meet standards established by the Commissioner. Under state law, sponsors of programs cannot discriminate against applicants because of race, creed, color, national origin, age, sex, disability, or marital status.
