Axis Head of Bermuda Claims in Bermuda

The Head of Bermuda Claims will be responsible for managing the local regional claims resources directly and through matrixed relationships and ensuring that claims are processed according to established regulatory, compliance and services standards. This role will have matrixed reporting relationships with the Head of Axis Reinsurance Claims as well as directly report to the Head of Axis Professional Lines Claims, North America. The successful candidate will lead and manage the AXIS Insurance Claims team as well as lead and manage day to day operations of the Reinsurance Claims team. This role requires a strong understanding of both insurance and reinsurance claims management, the claims life cycles and related operational and administrative workflows supporting the claims adjusting activities of both groups.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide leadership and management of the local claims staff, including day to day operations and administration needed to ensure appropriate claims service and claims handling.

  • Ensure compliance with all operating and compliance guidelines and regulations.

  • Ensure the appropriate target operating model is implemented to support a best-in-class claims function for the reinsurance and insurance claims staff.

  • Lead and foster a change, transformation mindset supporting claims improvement and growth aligned to Underwriting strategy and growth plans.

  • Ensure timely notification to key stakeholders of reserving activity and claims activity showing trends and developments.

  • Fostering a diverse and inclusive team and environment.

  • Recruiting, hiring, and retaining top talent and developing appropriate succession plans.

  • Leading and fostering a transformation mindset supporting continuous improvement aligned to Underwriting strategy and growth plans.

Successful candidates will possess the following skills/capabilities:

  • Demonstrated skills leading teams in cross-functional work via collaboration, negotiation, influence, and teamwork involving core operating functions ( e.g ., reinsurance and insurance claims management, claims operations, technical accounting, underwriting, and actuarial, etc .).

  • Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability and experience reporting and presenting to senior management.

  • Results driven personality and mindset focused on building a diverse, inclusive team, and demonstrated ability to lead by example.

  • Broad experience working in a claims leadership role.

  • A proven record of supporting, delivering, and leading change.

  • Effective conflict resolution skills to deal with people with differing expectations and viewpoints.

  • College, law or other advanced degree, preferred

  • International travel may be associated with this role.
