V2X MWR Technician-Lifeguard in Marshall Islands

Overview

This position will be physically located in The Marshall Islands in support of LOGCAP

Lifeguards primarily remain alert and ensure the safety of swimming pool occupants while they are in and out of the swimming pool. Lifeguards assist the Pool Supervisor with cleaning and hygiene of the swimming pool, Jacuzzi, and immediate surrounding areas. This position generally ensures swimming pool and jacuzzi remain clean and that the patrons remain safe; while they promote a friendly atmosphere, by assisting patrons with their questions/equipment needs. Lifeguards are responsible for maintaining the highest possible standard of service.

Responsibilities

This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company.

+ + Oversee the pool area, assist swimmers in difficulty. Perform water swimming skills, water rescue, first aid, CPR procedures and techniques.

  • Perform guarding duties.

  • Ensure that the PH and Chlorine levels of both pool and Jacuzzi are checked every hour during pool and Jacuzzi operating hours. Reports low level of PH and Chlorine in either pool or Jacuzzi to the Community Service Manager immediately.

  • Responsible for patrons and remain alert and ensure the safety of swimming pool occupants while they are in and out of the swimming pool.

  • Cleaning and maintaining hygiene of the swimming pool, Jacuzzi, and immediate area around the swimming pool.

  • Monitoring and maintaining all surroundings sports courts (basketball, volleyball, tennis, horseshoe area) and associated grounds on the installation clean and free of debris.

  • Inform the Pool Supervisor if a general maintenance is required.

  • Check daily, weekly, and monthly inventory of pool equipment.

  • Ensure all operational procedures, checklists and work instructions are carried out to a high standard.

  • Ensure the day-to-day preparation of facilities (equipment and/or areas of use).

  • Undertake the opening and closing of the Centre in accordance with published hours and ensure the facilities are provided for the public in accordance with Health and Safety regulations.

  • Always ensure a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the shift.

  • Ensure that recorded checks on chemical levels of the pool water are carried out and reported to the Community Service Manager.

  • Routine checks and maintenance in the Pump Room including backwash and bypass of pool and Jacuzzi filters.

  • Check stocks of materials and order replenishment control their use and security.

  • Check daily the area and equipment and record any repairs needed in the fault logbook.

  • Responsible for the security of the building and its contents. Maintain a clean pool deck, office, and recreational area to ensure it is free of trash, loose towels, weeds, algae, etc.

  • Address patron issues and/or concerns and respond appropriately.

  • Maintain pool furniture, rescue and safety equipment, and cleaning equipment.

  • Communicate daily with Pool supervisor regarding any patron issues/concerns.

  • Post activity schedule for pools to communicate special events to the patrons.

  • Ensure proper sign-in and patron registration daily, report participation to pool office.

  • Knowledge of and enforce pool rules. Update and maintain office files.

  • Performs other duties and assignments as required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be fluent in both spoken and written English and able to communicate effectively

  • Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma is required or equivalent. Strong workable knowledge of swimming pool equipment and systems.

  • Program Specific Requirements:

  • Must have American Red Cross CPR and First Aid certificates or local equivalent certifications as approved by the ACO or COR.

  • Must be American Red Cross Lifeguard certified or local equivalent certification as approved by the ACO or COR

  • Must have thorough knowledge on water rescue procedures and first aid.

  • Must be capable of performing rescues and first aid as needed.

  • Possess knowledge of safety and environmental issues as they relate to Pool Management.

  • Must be able to lift/push/pull a minimum of 60 lbs.

  • Depending on event schedules, this position will require early mornings/late evenings and outdoor work.

  • This position requires daily contact with all members of the Community, as well as communication with the Local National staff.

  • Working Environment:

  • In this position there is exposure to physical and working conditions where serious accidents or injuries may occur, exposure to disagreeable noise elements and prolonged high ambient temperatures.

  • Must be able to lift/push/pull a minimum of 45 lbs.

  • Depending on event schedules, this position will require early mornings/late evenings and outdoor work.

  • This position requires daily contact with all members of the Community, as well as, communication with the Local National staff.
