Are you passionate about shaping the educational journey of students? Do you thrive in a dynamic, collaborative environment? The College of Arts & Sciences at Texas A&M University is seeking experienced senior level Academic Advisors to join our dedicated team. As an Academic Advisor, you will provide personalized academic guidance to undergraduate students and assist these students in navigating degree requirements, course selection, and career pathways.

Opportunities to contribute:

  • Deliver academic advising to current and prospective undergraduate students in the College of Arts & Sciences

  • Review degree plans and guide students on academic, probationary, and financial concerns

  • Advise students on how best to fulfill degree requirements

  • Develop and implement advising programs and workshops

  • Counsel students who are looking to change their major

  • Stay up to date on student policies, deadlines, procedures, appeals processes

  • Refer students to appropriate resources when needed

  • Work to improve academic advising services to enhance retention and graduations rates

  • Assist with New Student Conferences

  • Develop community within and lifelong affinity for the College of Arts & Sciences

    Qualifications:

Academic Advisor III

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Four years of academic advising within higher education

Academic Advisor IV

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Six years of advising experience within higher education

  • The Academic Advisor IV, must have knowledge of Texas A&M advising programs & systems such as Compass and Howdy, as this position advises on degree programs, course planning and selections, and career and academic goals

A well-qualified candidate for any of these positions will also possess:

  • Master’s degree or above in education, counseling, or general subject area of placement

  • NACADA or TEXAAN certificate of participation

Starting Salary:

Academic Advisor III: $54,450.00

Academic Advisor IV: $59,895.00
