Fortive Corporation Indirect Tax Senior Analyst United States
Tektronix is seeking a self-motivated Indirect Tax Senior Analyst to join our accounting team. In this role, you will be responsible for tax planning and compliance activities within the Americas region. Key deliverables include assisting with timely compliance reporting, serving as an internal expert to address tax-related matters with customers and tax authorities, and supporting other corporate projects. The successful candidate will analyze, prepare, and submit tax reports, records, and filings, and support audit readiness. Outstanding organizational and analytical skills are essential to meet tax reporting deadlines, along with a passion for automation and a lean mindset.
Responsibilities:
Prepare, review, and submit Sales/Use, Gross Receipts, and other similar tax returns and remittances to states and applicable jurisdictions, in collaboration with third-party service providers.
Prepare, review, and submit all Personal Property tax returns and remittances to states and applicable jurisdictions, in collaboration with third-party service providers.
Conduct sales and use, and property tax research.
Prepare business license and other similar filings.
Prepare governmental statistical reports.
Track deadlines and document completion.
Review, process, and respond to tax notices.
Provide training and assistance to Tektronix Customer Service Representatives and Accounting team members regarding resale/exemption certificate collection and retention.
Review processes and make recommendations on Oracle and supporting systems as they pertain to indirect taxes and property taxes.
Develop and implement process/technology improvements across Indirect Tax compliance.
Ensure records, returns, and related reports comply with all federal, state, and local regulations.
Manage outside tax consultants and advisors.
Assist with internal audits relating to tax matters, external tax audits, and prepare guidelines and/or policies related to tax compliance.
Reconcile tax-related general ledger accounts.
Provide SOX/Audit support and analysis.
Actively pursue continuous improvement through the deployment of Fortive Business Systems (FBS) tools.
Drive various special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
5+ years of progressive work experience in a corporate tax department within a similar industry and/or a public accounting firm.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
Experience in all aspects of indirect tax (e.g., compliance, controversy, tax accounting, process improvement, tax technology).
Strong knowledge of sales and use taxation related to U.S.-based multinational companies, with a focus on manufacturing operations and research and development.
Advanced Excel knowledge.
Experience with Oracle, Vertex, Alteryx, and/or Power BI is preferred.
Strong analytical and communication skills.
Deadline-driven and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and as part of a fast-paced, decentralized global team.
Experience working with large data sets.
Experience developing and implementing process improvements.
Skilled in developing and analyzing tax planning and tax minimization strategies.
