Compensation Range:

$19.47 - $25.77

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Responsibilities:

GENERAL SUMMARY

Physician Support Specialist must be able to triage incoming calls, schedule patient appointments, obtain pertinent medical information and accurately document in the appropriate programs. Candidate will use eRecord, OnBase, RightFax, as well as distribute mail, run office related errands, and perform other duties as assigned. Candidate must demonstrate capability and desire to work independently and be a strong team player and consistently demonstrate ICARE values in each of the major responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Interacts with patients, families, providers, and other offices on the telephone and asses the call to understand needs, prioritize medical concerns, and obtain responses from providers and follow up with patients.

  • Schedules all necessary imaging, tests, outpatient procedures, and manages and reviews incoming referrals for proper scheduling and distribution.

  • Works with Administrative Assistant to ensure outpatient clinics are opened and closed appropriately and provides support to outpatient clinics as needed. Works bump and reminder lists effectively, timely, and accurately.

  • Assists providers with contacting families to provide test results and provides support for requesting all necessary medical documents for internal and external needs/

  • Attends office staff meetings. Provides clerical assistance, including distributing mail, and creating routine and non-routine mail correspondence to families and outside offices. Also scans documents and prepares routine faxes.

Other duties as assigned. Assists the Medical Office Supervisor, Division Chief and Division Directors in managing continued operations and resolution of issues to maintain effective patient care and operations.

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED:

  • High School Diploma and Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience required;

  • or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Medical Terminology, experiences with surgical/appointment scheduling software (such as epic), and electronic medical records, preferred.

  • Demonstrated customer relations skills.

  • Minimum of two years relevant experience required or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Strong customer service skills, oral communication and written communication skills are essential.

  • Knowledge of eRecord and Microsoft programs are desired.

  • The ability to work in a fast-paced, stressful environment, demonstrate efficiency in prioritizing assignments, and the ability to multi-task.
