BASIC PURPOSE

As a Senior Director, Region Replenishment within US Foods, you will be pivotal in the strategic direction of US Foods along with how we serve our customers. This role sits in our Supply chain organization, within our Replenishment team. You will be assigned to a specific region, consisting of a set of areas. You will manage and oversee a team of Directors, Area Replenishment, who will each be responsible for one area.

Collectively, your team will drive all Replenishment management activities for your assigned region. As a core leader of the Replenishment team, you will also be responsible for setting the direction, building / developing supply chain talent through the organization, and driving continuous improvement within the function. As a Senior Director, Region Replenishment, you are accountable for the region’s service levels to the customers, while balancing other key supply chain metrics such as inventory, spoilage, and cost. You will develop and implement key strategic initiatives supporting the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and business metrics aimed towards such, in addition to customer service and inventory levels across the organization to enable the one US Foods way of Replenishment excellence.

From a skills perspective, a successful Senior Director, Region Replenishment will be highly customer focused and be adept at driving change through analytical problem solving, KPI management and fully leveraging planning systems. Additionally, this leader will be effective at coaching their region teams to high levels of performance, process consistency, and a collaborative mindset.

The Sr Director, Region Replenishment is a region based role. Candidates must reside within the West Region (PST) and be willing to travel up to 75% of the time within the Region. Regions include: AK, WA, MT, OR, UT, NM, TX, AZ, NV, and CA.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

I. Performance Management Responsibilities: As a Senior Director, Region Replenishment, you will own and manage all Replenishment strategies and performance metrics for your region. Specific tasks include:

• Actively engage in region-level staff meetings on Replenishment performance and issue resolution. Represent Replenishment at key region level meetings & own all follow-ups along with your Area Directors.

• Establish financial performance and Replenishment goals with your region across all categories and then, align with other departments and teams such as Finance, CATMAN, Supply Chain, Logistics, and Sales on strategic initiatives.

• Drive improved performance and accountability on the key metrics and provide timely updates to the regional staff on the efforts your Area Directors are pursuing to ensure region-level excellence:

  • Target service levels: Oversee and monitor customer service levels for your region, and partner with respective Area Directors where hotspots or improvement areas emerge

  • Optimal Days Inventory on Hand (DIOH): Oversee and monitor current DIOH trends within your region; maintain an understanding of corrective actions your team is pursuing for over / under positions

  • Spoilage, freight & inventory adjustment: Oversee and monitor key elements such as spoilage, F2F, freight optimization, PO accuracy, inventory change (ICC) within your region

II. Driving Regional Replenishment Excellence:

Replenishment execution: As a Senior Director, Region Replenishment, you will oversee all Replenishment and inventory management activities in your region. You will work closely with your Area Directors to establish the optimal tactics. Key elements you will drive accountability for:

• Inventory management: Ensure your Region Replenishment Team is managing inventory to the target DIOH levels

• Root causing stock outs: Ensure Area level teams are root causing major stock outs and anticipating shorts

• Replenishment operations: Ensure timeliness of PO arrivals in your region; escalate to other functions as needed

• Large buy decisions: Ensure incentive or forward decisions are thoroughly evaluated for risk & ROI

Regional operations: Facilitate service performance and special events in your region in coordination with Directors

• Service requests: Drive accountability for timely action of service requests across the region; Work with Area Director team to determine allocation priorities for significantly constrained items

• Supporting regional sales & demand needs: Oversee how local sales events are orchestrated from a Replenishment standpoint; Engage cross-functional leaders as needed from sales and merchandising

• Customer & items transitions: Ensure reliability in your region for customer transitions (start-up & ramp-down) and assortment transitions; facilitate right expertise and cross-functional support as needed

• Region specific service issues: Maintain a pulse on acute/ seasonal challenges, e.g., hurricanes, fire business, education ramp-up, etc.

III. Team Leadership Responsibilities:

You will directly manage a large team of Area Directors and in-directly manage a team of Buyers and Operations Support Specialists for your region. You will:

• Make hiring and talent development decisions with your region

• Translate organization objectives into actionable tactics and objective for your team

• Build a strong culture of customer orientation, collaboration, and continuous improvement in your region

• Provide adequate coaching and process guidance to your team; when needed, work closely with Center of Excellence (COE) teams to bring the required expertise

• Represent your Area Directors on regular performance evaluations and help build strong talent pipeline within the Replenishment function

• Provide regular 1x1 feedback to your Area Directors based on cross-functional inputs

• Embody US Foods values to be a role model for your regional team

IV. Building Capabilities and Driving Continuous Improvement:

Work with Replenishment leadership team and your regional counterparts to enhance the team’s capabilities within your region and the function:

• Use of analytics and problem-solving tools: Champion usage of analytics and fact-based decision making

• Systems trust & reliance: In your region, drive high reliance and trust on systems (e.g., SCPO) for planning and buying activities. Regular capture team feedback from Area leader team and escalate to COE and systems SMEs.

• Competency development: Identify required process, analytics, and system training gaps within your region; work with Replenishment leadership and COE to bring those competencies and bring those trainings to your team

• Continuous improvement: Share your findings, operational learnings, and process improvement opportunities with your peer group and COE to drive ongoing improvement

• Process standardization: Standardize inventory management and planning processes in all markets, such as days of supply coverage targets, order minimums, lead time management

SUPERVISION:

Responsible for Region Replenishment team, including Director, Area Replenishment; Replenishment Buyers across broadline portfolio (COP, Grocery and Produce)

RELATIONSHIPS

This role sits in our Supply chain organization, within our Replenishment Team. Given the seniority of this role and its cross-functional nature, you will build and maintain communication with multiple functions within US Foods

• Region replenishment team: You will be overseeing the Replenishment for the entire region. You will interact with the Area Directors on a frequent basis to where they will update you on area level performance as well as to engage on key issues

• Senior Director, Region Replenishment cohort: You will work closely with the Senior Director, Region Replenishment cohort, including the Region President. You will be a key member of the Regional staff meetings and represent Replenishment as function on that meeting.

• Replenishment COE: You will oversee the collaboration between the COE and your region’s Area Directors, so your team is provided with on demand support and expertise on forecasting, PO buy optimization, inventory optimization, and planning systems

• Additional functions you will work closely with:

• Merchandising and category management: on vendor, category, assortment related aspects

• DC operations: on DC inbound, slotting & outbound related aspects

• Local sales: on area specific service challenges & recovery actions

• Transportation: on inbound freight and pick-up delays

• Finance & costing: on costing related aspects

• National sales support team: on setting up new customers & fielding new orders for national accounts

• Human resources: on talent related matters

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, or related fields, or relevant experience and/or military experience

• Work Experience: 10 years+ experience in managing operations and leading teams within core supply chain functions - specifically, supply planning, inventory management, vendor mgmt., purchasing, or other food service/ distribution related functions

• Skills and Abilities: In addition to supply chain and operations expertise, the Senior Director, Region Replenishment must be organized, analytical, have strong written/ oral communication skills (to present to both leadership and large team), and be capable of building strong cross-functional relationships. Must also be able to work in ambiguous situations and under pressure meeting deadlines. Possess ability to distill insights out of the team’s functional activities. Must have experience with Microsoft Office Products, and advanced Microsoft Excel skills required.

The following information is provided in accordance with certain state and local laws. Compensation depends on experience, geographic locations, and other factors permitted by law. In California , the expected compensation for this role is around $170,000. In Washington , the expected compensation for this role is around $170,000. This role is also eligible for annual incentive plan bonus and long-term incentive program.
