Plans, inspects, designs, and oversees the installation, alteration, maintenance and repair of electrical systems and equipment for a district or division. Work requires contact with governmental agencies and private entities. Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives. Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence.Essential Duties:Assists in planning and reviewing traffic signal and illumination projects to include revising standard details and standard specifications.Calculates electrical loads, wiring sizes and lengths. Ensures strict adherence to the NEC and city electrical ordinances. Inspects electrical construction and/or maintenance contract work.Instructs others in electrical theory and practice.Responds to emergency situations to assist with repair and maintenance of traffic signals, systems, lighting or traffic data collection equipment.Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
