Grand Valley Manufacturing Co. Quality Inspector in Warren, Pennsylvania

Grand Valley Manufacturing is seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Quality Control Inspector to join our Warren team. This position is responsible for executing quality inspection operations, as described in the manufacturing router. 

Responsibilities

  • Analyze blueprints, drawings, plans, and routers to fully understand the desired customer requirements and ensure compliance. 
  • Plan inspection procedures and methods, adjustment methods, certification processes, formulas, or measuring instruments required. 
  • Develop inspection programs for Faro Arm, Laser Tracker, and CMM inspection tools for various jobs moving through the facility. 
  • Perform first article, in-process, and final inspections of materials and complex precision machined parts. 
  • Perform a wide variety of gauging set-ups and devise methods of checking unusual parts. 
  • Complete required inspection reports and performance records. Report any anomalies/non-conformances.
  • Participate in non-conformance investigations and the resolution of quality-related issues.
  • Communicate with customers on inspection processes, reports, results, etc. 
  • Able to use common (calipers, tape measure, micrometers, etc.) & complex (Bore Gauge, Faro Arm, API Tracker, & CMM) inspection tools 
  • Calibrate equipment and monitor and maintain calibration logs. 
  • Able to prioritize and plan work activities, utilizing time efficiently to look ahead at the inspection schedule for upcoming needs (program development, inspection tools required, etc.) 
  • Able to understand and interpret GD&T as it applies to the inspection. 
  • Understands and is able to apply ISO 9001:2015.

Qualifications

  • High school Diploma or GED required, education in vocational or technical school preferred.  
  • Minimum of 5 years in a manufacturing setting, preferably in an inspection role or related field. 

Preferred Skills

  • Experience operating and programming laser arm, laser tracker, and/or CMM.
  • Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy. 
  • Excellent mathematical skills. 

Physical Demands & Working Environment

Works in a manufacturing environment and is exposed to moving mechanical parts. Occasionally exposed to fumes and/or airborne particles. Required to wear eye, foot, and/or other personal protective equipment while performing duties. May on a frequent basis squat, climb, push/pull objects, lift up to 25 lbs., and use hands/fingers for grasping and reaching.   May on an occasional basis bend at the waist; reach above the shoulder; turn or twist body; lift up to 50 lbs.; carry up to 35 lbs.; and use hands/fingers for fine manipulation. The noise level in the work environment is usually medium to loud.

Additional Notes

Must be able to work a flexible schedule. Full-time work week is 40-55 hours, Monday -- Friday, 10-hour days Monday -- Thursday. 12-hour shifts are sometimes required to meet delivery schedules. Saturdays (1/2 days) as needed.
